Default My DIY Catch Can

The complete kits that are offered prices seemed a bit steep to me, so I decided to come with something on my own.

Home Depot Racing (Husky) 3/8" NPT air compressor filter - $24
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-3-8...03AV/100040942

Strip of aluminum - $ I don't know, already had it lying around

3/8" Fuel hose, a couple brass fittings, bolts/washers - ~$10

Misc tools, you'll need something to drill and tap the can so you can attach a bracket to it. I used M10 x 1.50 since there was enough space for this size of bolt and that's the bolt/thread you need to attach the other end of the bracket to the head.

The can that I got at Home Depot didn't look exactly like the one in the link I posted. What they had in the store was very similar, but had a few slight differences and there was a removable top section, which I decided to use to mount to the bracket.

I am going to pull the bracket off again here soon and paint it black (valve cover crinkle black paint) and round off the edges a bit etc.

Pretty happy with how it came out considering how much I've put into it. The valve at the bottom of the can part does appear to seal in both positive pressure and vacuum, but I JB welded it shut anyways, it's easy enough to remove the collection can in its entirety anyways.

Just thought I'd share. I didn't find a whole lot of DIY type threads for catch cans on this site when I was searching earlier.

The whole can lower portion unscrews. Easier than trying to drain it from that location

The pcv valve does serve a purpose, I would install it back between the intake manifold and catch can if you still have it lying around.

There are 4 catch cans on my car. All were installed be the previous owner. Not sure why. Kinda makes me laugh.
