I had to change the placement of bulb for the airbag light when I updated my 98 to a HUD cluster other than that it all just pretty much pops into place.

Since we're on the subject once you install a different cluster can the exact mileage of the car be updated on the new one?

There was a member on here few years back that did that if you were buying a HUD compatible cluster from him. He sold the kits for the HUD installs. So yes it can be done, but who does it now, I don't know.

I suppose the dealer can if this guy could.

You can keep the correct mileage by swapping the circuit boards out.Takes about 15 minutes to do once your cluster is out

Correct me if I'm wrong but if your old board did not have the pin-out for the cluster you will not be able to swap it out and maintain the HUD?

The mileage information is stored in the IPC's main board, so yes, swapping main boards to keep your old one in your new IPC will allow you keep your correct mileage.

Problem is if you are replacing a non-HUD IPC with a HUD-enabled IPC with the intention of adding HUD to a car that didn't have it. This is because the IPC's HUD connector is also on the main board. In this case the only way out is to have the new IPC reprogrammed with the correct mileage.

Check post #3 above. Pirateslife4me is telling you he had to change the location of the air bag light, but everything else was plug-and-play.

Your car is a 99 and your new IPC is from a Z06. His is a 98 and he doesn't mention the origin of his new IPC. I don't know if that would make a difference.

Mileage will be different as mentioned.

You mention "wiring" on your list of parts. This MUST be the correct 11-pin connector cable.

Great. Just get a bezel, remove dash pad and start cutting. Take your time and keep track of every fastener along the way. Use a camera if you have to.

Come time to mount the projector, I used a Well nut after drilling the one hole you need for mounting. Couldn't get a drill in there due to the slant of the windshield so I used a Dremel with a right-angle head on it to drill a starter hole. Then I just used a tapered reamer to enlarge it to the correct size for the Well nut.

Just so you know, ALL Z06 cars had HUD-enabled clusters, so just locate any Z06 IPC cluster you like, and you're good.

Might help in your searching.
