It can be done. I asked about it on the thread below. They guy sent me a video of it installed in his car. He bought the kit and had his local stereo installer put it in for $79. It fits perfectly in the existing ignition key hole. I plan to do this mod later in the fall.

It's just my opinion. With today's advances in technology more cars have the push button start. Mind you in new cars there is also integrated security features. At the end of the day many of us love to tinker with our cars and make them our own. This is no different then adding any other aesthetics.

There is a big difference when people that do not understand electricity start hacking on a car. Especially the ignition system, and when things break there is little or no documentation as to who did what and trying to track down the issue becomes quite a PIA.
Wasn't GM the company with all the recalls for faulty ignition switches? Seems like the weight of the keys, and all crap people put on their key chains was weighing it down causing failures. Maybe that would be a reason for the start button.
GM doesn't make key ignition switches that are safe anymore and no GM push button start systems have been recalled yet. A good push button system uses solid state relays to eliminate contact corrosion.
