hi guys,
I have a question for a problem I just developed. im going on a 3k trip and decided to take my vette, so the other day I hear this clicking noise coming from my compressor, it changed faster or slower depending on my rpm's so I knew it was ac pump. air was still coming out cold, but it did need a charge cause it wasn't as cold as it should be, so I got a can of Freon and I think I may have over filled it...now my ac light blinks in the car when I try to turn it on and cant get the compressor going...any help would be great thank you, im leaving in 2 days need to get this diag'd...
Joe
btw, 2002 c5...and if it is over filled will that shut down the ac pump, and can I just vac it out with a vac pump and just refill?
IS THERE ANYWAY TO JUMP THE AC PUMP TO GET A PRESSURE READING? ITS NOT TURNING ON AT THE MOMENT?

Reason: more info needed
If you are running out of time, you better take it to an A/C shop quick or you might be cruising with no A/C.
I went and got an ac Freon vac pump and new Freon gonna empty it n refil I now have pressure gauge...lets see what happens now, any advice would be great...cant go to NYC with no air....lol

Just got back from a 3000K trip to Connecticut and it would have been miserable without A/C for sure. Can't help you. I have limited knowledge about A/C especially the touchy electronics in these C5s .
You can put too much 134 in which can lock up your compressor(don't ask). It takes 1.98 cans of Freon=TOTAL. That makes ICE COLD air. Also use a small can of PAG 150 oil. But in all likelihood if it's ticking it's already toast. And what's even worse you can't just patch it and expect it to be alright. You'll need to get a dryer, compressor, CONDENSOR, orifice tube, 2 cans of Freon, one PAG-150 can, flush kit to clean out all the A/C lines.
Once you have the parts, then remove your old stuff, install new stuff, pull a vacuum, then charge it up and enjoy.

UPDATE..i purged out some air added a full can of 134+ and viola, pump stared up sucked it in and cold as ice air again, what puzzles me is after adding 3/4 of a can while it was running made the pump quit, after dicking with it all day and not being able to get the pump running, I just said screw it, hooked up a new can with gauge squeezed the trigger then bled air at the hi side and after 3/4 of a can it started getting cold, and colder, took all the can and its in the middle of the green on the gauge and working perfect...don't get it, and at this point just glad its workin...thanx for all the suggestions guys!!!!
