Have a 1998 Convertible. Living in a climate where driving all year long is not possible but would like to stretch it out as long as I can. Here's the thing. On those chilly days when you want to work the heat just a little to take the chill out of the car, I get warm air on the passenger side and only cold (frigid) air on the driver's side. Any simple or inexpensive ideas for solving this dilemma?
If you're wanting heat on the drivers side and can't get it, most likely a blend door problem. Just had this on my car. Have to remove the dash pad to replace the blend door actuators. I used a dorman product from O'Reilys $150.00. You can buy the same one on Ebay for 40 some dollars if you have time to wait for shipping. Not all that hard to do but is time consuming.
I would start by going into the DIC and clear all HVAC codes, listen for the doors to cycle. Once you try that see if you now have heat/cold out of both sides.
Does any one have an illustrated on how to replace both blend door actuators? that would be a huge help. I don't mind replacing both while i have the dash apart (just to make sure)! is there any other things in the dash i should look while doing this repair? Or any repairs to make while the dash is apart? I have a C5 that i am need to do the work on.

When I first got my car, this was the first repair that came up. Unfortunately, back in those days,I hadn't joined this great Forum and was too scared to put a tool to the car...dealer charged $650 for the repair if my memory is correct. Shortly after being on the forum, I wasn't scared to tackle a lot of things.
Had same problem on my '97 Caddy. I think dual temp blend works same on our
vettes. Got under dash and manually operated blend actuators through a few cycles. No problem since. Otherwise you will probably need to replace one of the actuators.
