Default What next?

I have a 2001 c5 6 speed with the following mods

1.full exhaust (lg headers all the way back to borlas)
2.varaam intake with the air bridge
3.dr.phil tune

i don't track the car i just want to hear some ideas or opinions.
i was thinking different gears on rear end?
also my 2nd gear is grinding is it a good idea to upgrade to a zo6 trans?

welcome to the forum!
1st of all what is a dr. phil tune? never heard of it???
and to swap out to a Z06 trans are you staying with a c5 which would be a direct swap IIRC you may need the 3 rib z06 diff ? or are you planning on going to a c6 Z06 trans which would be a lot more involved..

I would just have your's rebuilt

the tuners name is dr.phil sorry about that and yes staying with stock rear end and from the research I've done it should just bolt on

no worrie's ! and it should yes but the C5 Z06 has much shorter gearing then that of the mn6 transmission

yes thats true the gears are shorter i just thought they both had the same 342 rearend.

One thing is for sure, if you end up deciding to replace the tranny, that would be a perfect time to do the rear gears also.

How many miles are on it? Have you done a compete tune up? I would probably so clutch and shifter next

Being that you're having trans problems and have stock internals I would say no...the ls6 is plenty good for what you have and not worth the slight horsepower/price trade off I probably wouldn't upgrade to a fast until my car was mechanically perfect I had lots of disposable income and I was trying to eek out every last bit of power
