I think it'll increase the value slightly of all the remaining Z06s after it's written off.

You should start with something that looks good but isn't over powered. Just my opinion.

Probably not a great 1st car. If your dead set on a Vette. Look at the C4's. Not as much power, and still fun to drive.

The '95-'96 are solid cars, and you can find some really nice examples for 10-15K. That way you can use the rest of that 30K to pay your in$urance..

Best of luck to ya.

Would be a much better investment, to spend the money on an English tutor.

Maybe, but the '95-96 cars still have 300 hp on tap. The C5 is a fine car and has lots of safety features, but in the hands of a relatively inexperienced driver it can still be a handful. And a C5Z has even more power on tap.

Granted I do not know you at all and what you would really drive like should you get a C5Z. However, for a first car, I would set my sights a bit lower and gain some driving experience before making the leap to a Vette.

The money you save would still be there later on should you still have a desire to buy a Vette.

I agree, get some experience on something decently powered on public roads. People who don't know the car's potential are the ones that drive them off the roads. Not saying that's going to happen but trust me, once you're behind the wheel of one your whole mindset changes. Excitement takes over and trust me you will act a fool.

Not going to lie, when I was 16-17 I was messing around in my first car (3000GT) that is no where near the power of my C5Z. Long story short I lost control of it one day and slid it HARD up a curb. Luckily nobody was around that I could've hurt but the car was a loss. Bent frame and massive body damage.

I learned my lesson then, somethings you have to learn the hard way. Unfortunately when we're young that's the only way to realize you need to think **** throughly. Just my two cents man.

If you can afford the car and the insurance who am I to stop you from getting one. Good luck.

A c5z is pretty easy to drive and has some good safety options but honestly I suspect if I had one at 16 my life would be very different due to killing myself or someone else. Minimally i would have lost my license.

if 30k is your budget, consider getting something with some tech and a warranty. First thing that comes to mind is a new 2l wrx. brz's are funish if you havent owned a real car yet. 30k gets you into anything pretty much, do some serious thinking. If you think sport car insurance is expensive, wait till you get a few tickets.

If you really want to do burners and be reckless, strap a small centri charger on an ls1 car like a camaro/firebird or even an early c5 and go wacky for 20k. lol

30k budget for your first car at 16?

Doubt it matters what we say if you won't be footing the bill yourself.

If you actually want advice buy a 4th gen fbody for cheap, beat on it and learn a thing or two before you step up to the corvette

The problem with being both young and a man, is that it's in our very nature to want to challenge those who oppose us. Fact: Upwards of 95% of 16yr olds crash within their 1st 6mo. of driving on their own. (that's normal kids, driving old under powered cars like mini vans, etc.) - starting off in a vette is just play crazy, aside from a Z06!
Yes, yes, I know you wan to shut me up and prove me wrong buying that car and showing me how fast you can drive it.

Invest a couple grand in a 2-3 day racing school (PLEASE). I did Skip Barber @La Guna Seca when I was 17, and the best advice was "use what you learn to limit yourself, and not push yourself, and you'll keep yourself and others alive and healthy"

Everyone on here loves vettes. We just want you and your car to live long & healthy lives .
Sorry for the long post but someone's gotta be straigth with you.

There are many "men" that are 30 years old that drive like they are 16, there are very few 16 year olds drive like they are 30 YO.

Although maturity does not necessarily come with age, it (maturity) comes in handy when driving a high powered car. Please start out with a bit less car than a Z, you might live to appreciate a Z later on.

Fbodies are the worst in the rain. I bought my oldest son a 94 V6 Camaro for a first car several years ago, and somehow it survived his teen years, but I really would not recommend it.

I had a C4 as my first car. I got a job when I was 15 to pay for it and it cost $10k. 1990 model, 6 speed, 245hp. I put it in 2 ditches, ran into a barn, and then totaled it a year later. This was after I thought I was extremely responsible just like you say you are.

Get something more conservative. Also, learn to use punctuation. It helps everyone.

Why not increase your budget slightly and get a F430? You are more than responsible enough to handle it and I hear maintenance isn't that bad.
