500 miles here. Cheap insurance. Maybe it helps, maybe not- either way it only cost a few bucks. I always change the oil at 500 miles in our new vehicles (even my company car).
In my case, I think 500 miles is excessive and the engine may not even have had a chance to completely wear in so I chose to wait until 1200 miles. I wouldn't wait until the DIC tells you to change it because there tends to be much more metal fragments in the oil until the first oil change (from the engine wearing in).
But this is just my opinion and there doesn't seem to be an exact science around this. I did a poll before to ask the same question and answers came back anywhere from 500 to whatever the DIC tells you (closer to 10,000).
I bought a BMW in 1999 and they prefilled it with Mobil 1 as well and recommended to just change it around 15000 miles (when the computer told you too). I couldn't stand to wait that long on factory fill so I paid for an oil change at 5000 miles even though the factory schedule included free maintenance for 3 years/36,000 miles. Just for peace of mind I guess.
I see you already have the Xenon conversion kit! Another owner who thinks the C5 headlights are about as good as strapping two flashlights to the front end? :jester
I guess you didn't mess around and did it the right way. I'm pretty happy with my CATZ bulbs, they are much better than stock but not as good as real xenon conversions.
Curious, how did the conversion work out for you? Are you happy with the outcome? Do you mind me asking how much it was and specs on the kit?
Feel free to reply via instant message if you prefer.
I'm getting ready for my first oil change and I just found out there is yet another NEW Mobil 1. I have been using Mobil 1 for over eight years and it seems they come out with a new oil more often than I buy underwear.
First it was just synthetic, then the new tri-synthetic, now the NEW super-syn.
So which one is the one? The super-syn refers to higher mileage cars. I have a few qts. of the tri-synthetic left over from the mass quantity purchases :conehead when I had the 94, but not enough to do one complete oil change. Can you do a interracial marrage with the two NEW Mobil 1's? Might void my warranty heh.
