I did the optional steps and I didn't see the pull key message when I started it afterwards. It's raining here today so I didn't drive it. Last thing I need is a melted Corvette.
It's one of those things where success is measured by nothing happening, so I guess time will tell.
Here are the optional steps in case you can't find your copy of the directions.
Thanks for sharing this!! I'm looking at my LMC5 instructions right now and this is no where to be found in mine AT ALL for some reason.
Ok contrary to my post yesterday about this brown wire. I don't have any brown wire anywhere on my C5 Z06 on my BCM or I would try this brown wire mod.
My LMC5 works perfect other than the pull key wait 10 sec ordeal I get from time to time. I only did this mod as a preventive measure. Never had a problem with mine.
In this video this is exactly what my LMC5 looks like and is how I exactly installed mine including pulling the #23 fuse that isn't referenced in this video. I still have my instruction pamplet also and it doesn't say anything about this brown wire mod. I only have blue caps and no black caps that I have capped on the other remaining wires. I have read over it now for the 4th or 5th time can't remember now.
Do I have an older style LMC5 or something... what gives?? Am I over looking something or concentrating to hard. Ha!

Bought by LMC5 about a month ago - it has a brown wire coming out go the little cylinder. It comes with 2 black sheaths to cover the ends of the brown wire after it is cut. The blue sheaths cover the connectors that remain on the wires that were disconnected. Maybe the older LMC5s don't have the brown wire. Time to give Richard a call.

I installed mine about a month ago. I got the Pull Key message one time about a week ago. I'm not getting down on my hands and knees and futzing with the BCM again to save 10 seconds once a month. Unless someone tells me that my steering wheel is going to lock up unless I do the brown wire, I'm taking the lazy route.

Ok cool then... and thank you very much for this info.
I definitely have a different LMC5. Mine has no brown wires on it. I just checked it again. I will give Richard a buzz soon.
On mine, if I turn the key on but don't start it, but use this time to put on seatbelt, etc. then start it, I very rarely get the remove key message. If I just turn the key on and start immediately, frequently I get the remove key message. So try just turning on key without starting immediately. Seems to work for me. However, I may look at mine again sometime to see if I could do the brown wire fix.
Installed the LMC-5 3 years ago as a preventative measure. Worked perfectly until recently. Kept getting the pull key and service column lock message. Than the 2 mph cutoff got me. Richard sent me the LMC-5 with the brown wire mod. All is good again. He is the best. Good luck with your problem.

But the Compliance Parts LMC5 worked like a charm.
I will never own another C5 without one, even though mine had the CL done by GM...yes, it still bit me in the azz.
Finished mine tonight. Watched the vid. Reread the instructions.
Total time fifteen minutes.
I packed the kit leftovers and instructions in the BCM compartment.
Just in case I forget it's installed.
I'm having the same problem with the "Pull key message" still coming up from time to time after installation of the LMC5 (that did stop the colume lock that I paid Chey to repair 3 times). But this is a goat rope for a corvette. We'll do step II and see if that works on the Pull Key.
This forum is really helpful, especially to us mechanically challenged folks that love this car.
The Brown Wire Mod (explained on page 2 of the install instructions) should correct that problem......
Installed the LMC5 a month ago at times I get the "Pull Key" message.
I have read and re-read the instructions on doing the brown wire mod.
Do I connect the brown wire adjacent to the LMC5 green wire on the pink connector. the instructions say "one hole diagonally across"?
I am a bit confused.
Thanks

Trying to remember my install. Not Adjacent to but across in and X type manner.
Think diagonal. [] []

I bought my car and I believe it is installed. I get the message but car still runs fine. don't have instructions on how to do anything?
Instructions on how to do the brown wire mod is shown a few posts above. I did my LMC5 without the brown wire mod at first and actually started to get the pull key message. I was doing the whole LMC5 thing as a preventive measure. I had no issues before , but I knew the LMC5 was not installed in mine because my column locked before.
Did the brown wire mod ( 5 or so minutes total time) and no more issues.
