weird, I've only got 3 cars but when I added my corvette a month ago it was easy as pie and I had documents in an email 10 minutes after the phone call.
I've had the same insurance company for a while, there's this little lizard guy with an aussie accent in the commercials (I have no affiliation, just good rates and coverage)
This is not a thread about how to get, or where to get insurance for Corvettes or collectible cars.
I just switched to NCM's insurance for 01 convertible. Major savings over the company I was using. Also major jumping through hoops. I had to change insurance companies for my daily driven trucks, prove my ZL1 Camaro is not a daily driver, (I asked for a quote on it to). Send declaration pages from former insurance company, match the coverages for every vehicle I own including the ones that have no lien, and send pictures, (this I get).
All in all I have spent two days insuring 5 vehicles with 3 different companies, just to get better rates for 2 cars. I need some rest before I think about asking for a quote for my 92 C4. LOL
Hope you saved alot of money and also hope you dont
wreck it picking up your dry cleaning
Same here...just added my 'new' '03 to my current insurance company....smooth as glass. Had the new ins card with in minutes....and super coverage at a very reasonable price.

Bobbie Jo at the National Corvette Museum was great to work with, she was very patient with me. It was changing the trucks insurance that was like dealing with the Federal Government. I was waiting to be told that I needed an environmental impact study.
I could be wrong, But I read somewhere that you can not use the car to run errands, Things like going to malls and most are limited to miles driven, That wasn't for me, I been with Allstate for years with no issues at all.
Cessna10, I hope I don't wreck them at all. They don't get driven much. Less than 5000 miles a year each. But it only takes one idiot to crash your car is seconds. When I was a motor officer I heard every excuse you could think of for DWHUA. (driving with head up a**).
You dont get it, not supposed to run errands with ncm insurance.
Just trying to let you know in case you were not aware
I have NCM and can definitely live with the limitations. I had State Farm for my vette but full coverage was ridiculous and they didn't have an agreed upon value for the car in case it was totaled.

I just switched to the NCM insurance last month and went through the same paperwork routine that you had to go through. Took me less than an hour to get everything together on my other two cars and I specified I wanted the same level of coverage on all cars anyway. Got a very good rate and best of all, an awesome agreed upon value for the car.
I think people just wanted to be sure you understood the limitations. Sounds like you do.
The limitations make that insurance unacceptable to me, though. My 68 has been out of the garage and on the streets maybe 6 times a year since I moved to Dallas four years ago. Probably 3-5 of those times each year was to go to a show. But, by golly, if I want to drive her to work one day on a whim, or stop at Walmart (hahahaha), then I want to be free to do so and not worry about my insurance coverage.
So the limitations the guys mention above are a problem for me, despite the money it would save.
Since it works for you, good for you jumping through the hoops to get it. It's nice to have options!
My question was really about the other cars you own. I didn't know they put you through all that on the other cars that weren't being insured. I have talked with them and understand you aren't supposed to use the car for anything but shows and club events, etc.

Really do you think an insurance co will say your not covered because you drive your hot rod to work or Walmart! It's called "fear of loss" they say this so you don't drive and enjoy your toy and reduce their exposure, absolutely crazy! Go have fun everyone, kids to!!!!
There are so many variables that apply to insurance underwriting (age, accidents, tickets, number of cars, working vs. retired, number of household drivers, number of cars insured, etc.) that have a direct barring to the insurance premium on any cars. Add the sports car to the mix and it is a tossup what the underwriter feels is the risk. At 71 when I bought my 04 Vette vert last year my full coverage premium was no more that my 04 Murano. I guess the underwriter felt I have passed the driving show me stage. He was right.
