I have tried to read all of the related posts but confusion still racks my senior brain. Simply stated - if I replace my rt front TPS sensor on my 99 C5 coupe, do I need to do "anything" else other than the relearn procedure?

You pretty much have it, just have to make sure you do all four and the DIC confirms.
I fixin' to replace my sensors on my '04 and I have the reprogramming instructions .. but I have a question for those that reprogrammed their sensors - how big of a magnet do you need and where did you get it ?

I bought mine from Tire Rack, I have read where some have used an old speaker magnet.

I appreciate the offer .. but I'm in Arlington. I'll probably check out a hardware store or HD / Lowe's for one.
I have a friend who said to put the magnet in a sock. When you place it on the wheel it will not scratch the clear coat or chrome. Also makes it easy to remove.
When i reprogram my sensors i don't but the magnet on the wheel i put it on the tire right on the sensor. I use the gm tool I bought because we have 5 cars that have the sensors
I just did this today and replaced the two in the rear with the Dorman sensors. I did the relearn with a magnet and everything went fine. They register the pressure like they should.

Hi C5T,
It's been said before here, but I guess it's worth repeating - train your new sensors BEFORE you install them in your wheels. This ensures none are defective, and it's a lot easier too. Just climb inside the driver's seat with your sensors, a magnet, and some post-it notes or baggies labeled with your respective tire positions (i.e., LF, LR, RF, RR). As you go through the training sequence on your DIC, just put the magnet to a sensor, and when it beeps, label which wheel it goes to, set it aside, and go on to the next one. No worrying about having a powerful enough magnet (within reason of course), scratching your wheels, etc. I've done this multiple times and it has always worked like a charm. Good luck.

Great idea, something that I will remember. Thanks for repeating yourself, lol.

Forget the post-it notes and baggies. Just use a Sharpie permanent marker and write the respective tire positions right on the sensors.
