I replaced the right side fuel sender back in May, and it worked properly for about 6 weeks, then it started misfunctioning, only showing 7/8 full when totally full, then popping codes once I got to 3/4 tank.
I got the correct AC-Delco part. Have any of you had this same problem reoccur? I also have been using Techron every other tank, also.
The replacement for the replacement is on order. Any thoughts/suggestions as to why this happens?
Sorry to hear about this....I don't know if this helps but I replaced both fuel sending units about 7 years ago as I too had the infamous gas gauge issue. Ever since that time, I have not put Techron directly into my fuel tank. However, I have ONLY used Chevron 91 octane and nothing else ever since.
There are two sending units and it sounds like you replaced only one. Perhaps the other one needs replacement. As noted, I replaced both of mine at the same time.
That sucks! So far Techron has been working for me. Tank eithier goes to 0 or 7/8 full when it is full. Techron has fixed it every time so far. Good Luck!
Had one replaced several years ago but the empty gauge problem returned
Have been using Texaco gas but problem returned after a year or so.
Find a dose or two of Techron or Seafoam (one or the other) in a couple of tanks of gas cleans the sensors for about 6 months.
If it is a NEW sensor take it back as others have suggested.
After that try the 20 oz bottle of Techron or a can of Seafoam to keep the sensors working right.
Haven't had any fuel sending unit problems on any of the C5s that I have owned. I do use Techron every now and then.
Sucks that you are having to go through this again so soon.
I replaced the right side sender again today, then went for a fill up. The gauge only went to 7/8 full. If it pops a code again, I think I may replace the left side sender.
I've read about these fuel gauge issues fairly consistently and I almost exclusively use Chevron gas stations now so that I can be sure I always have a bit of Techron in the tank. I'll never be able to say for sure that it has prevented problems, but so far so good

No Chevron stations in the area, so I use either Sunoco or Shell gasoline. I am thinking about replacing the left side fuel pump/sender, but the price of the part, almost $400, makes me want to wait a little longer to see if it resolves itself. If I decide to replace it, the car needs to be pretty bone dry or I will need to have several jerry cans around to hold the gas.

What bearing does the choice of gasoline and additive (or not) have on this fuel sensor issue?
If you read other threads, it is because deposits form on the electrical components of the sending unit, causing it to stop making good electrical contact, and thus, erratic fuel level readings and popping codes. The Techron and other snake oil gasoline additives are supposed to somehow dissolve the deposits, but I am skeptical.
I just ordered a left side fuel pump assembly module. Along with AC-Delco, I also found modules from Bosch, Airtex, Carter, and other manufacturers. The Bosch module was cheapest, at $240, so I chose that. I have had good luck with Bosch over the years in my BMW, and hope it continues in my Corvette.
