I just bought my 4th C5. It's a 2004 Z06 (Z16), and I obviously love these cars. This one is pretty clean, completely stock with 23k miles. The strangest thing is that the black plastic trough in the trunk is badly discolored. It is white from who knows what. I tried armorall and wd40, but nothing helps. The first thing I did was check the carfax. I'm the second owner and there is no indication of a flood or any other known cause for this I've never seen it before. Any explanations or solutions? Thanks.
Sounds like a saltwater flood car...I will do ya a favor and give you 10k cash. Give me your address and I will even come pick it up so you wont have to pay shipping But on a serious note on my 22k mile Z16 that area has some faded areas but it is not white. Was the car kept inside all its life? I just took a look at my wifes 01 Z and it is blacker than my 04 and her car has been an outside car before we got it.

Yeah, I'm puzzled...I was told it was kept in a heated garage, but who knows? Maybe it was left outside in the winter with the trunk lid up. The carfax says it's been Ohio since new. You never know with these hillbillies from Ohio. Don't get excited...just joking. It's not like it was in P.A.
I am in east TN....we are the king of hillbilly Enjoy your Z16...I love mine. We have owned 6 C5's and one C6....sold the C6 and went back to the C5. I just prefer the look and feel of the C5 Z.

I visited a friend in Crossville a few years ago. Did some hiking...beautiful place...would love to live there. I don't know if I could adapt. Went to the local restaurant, asked the waitress what they had with no meat, and she looked at me like I had 3 heads....said "Why would you want something with no meat?" Definitely...undisputed King of Hillbillies in my book.
I believe it is a discoloration from the mold. Possible the mold release that was absorbed into the plastic during manufacture. Who knows.
Definitely looks like mine...I appreciate the feedback. The guy who suggested peanut butter made me hungry. I have to go and make a pb & j sandwhich. I will be trying different things to bring the color back. If anything works, I will post it. Thanks.
I think its all the car wash soap that gets in there when you wash it. or the water from when it rains really hard.
I don't know...I've had older c5's with nothing like this. I've tried about 10 different solutions...wd40...armorall....rubbing compound...etc. Nothing restores it. I'm thinking of replacing that whole section....it really bothers me.

Figure on a huge bill for changing that. It is part of the rear tub. Major disassembly of the car.
in the bottom corner there is a drain for water in that area. Water runs off of the trunk lid and sits in there until it drains out of the hole. I wouldn't bother with it, but some Back to Black wouldn't hurt.
