A woman I was with said she wished she could key his car just to teach him a lesson. I replied that there were no other cars on the floor and he wasn't taking up a close parking spot. She replied it didn't matter.
My Corvette has not been vandalized but I've had it happen in the past to a truck I used to have. It was egged 2 times, spit on (tailgate), scratched (tailgate), and some jerkoff redneck threw an uncapped tobacco spit bottle in the bed. That all happened over a period of around 7 years.
It's probably good I never caught anybody doing crap like that. Take so much more effort to do that stuff than to just walk on by or open your door a little more careful.
My pewter 99 has been scraped under the BSM on my driver's door with two strange lines 1" apart in perfect parallel. I was pissed. Then my wife showed me how a woman's purse does that from some strap attachment on the side.
The 04 CE has already been scraped/keyed, but luckily a place in town called Transhine Detail did and incredibe wash/clay bar/paint polish, then waxed it and it's better than new again. Best $185 I ever spent on a car detail, that's for sure.
But last weekend I took out the Chrysler 300C...it had one minor ding in the left rear wheel well from a 2x6 falling on it.
Well, now it's got a vertical scratch from someone pulling up their purse or keys right next to it.
It sucks to have three nice cars to drive, and all you can think of is "Should I have drove the truck this morning to breakfast instead?"
Inconsideration runs rampant once you leave your driveway folks. It sucks.
After many many acts of vandalism to my cars in my youth; I've just started parking like I DON'T give a crap. Make sure I'm in my spot right, park with everyone else and not to draw attention or act like mines too good to be next to yours. Try and park by cars that look like people might care if they got a door ding.
Knock on wood it's worked so far
THIS.....When i first bought my vette (22yo) i used to park all outa my way to reassure myself it wouldnt get damaged. It never fails, some *** hat always parks within inches of my ride. So i park as close as i can and make sure the car im parking next to is well taken care of. So far so good. Unless your with a group of nice cars, parking by yourself doesnt alwasys turn out the way youd hope. Unfortunately in this day in age, people are just mean for no reason.

I think it boils down to this: You have it, they don't, and they want to ruin it for you.
I've had soda poured on my Camaro and gum and spit on my Eclipse. In my case, it's usually kids (I'm a teacher). But the funny thing is, the kids like me and I'm well established as a "cool" teacher. But it only takes one jealous kid or adult to do some damage. So I have a motion sensor alarm on the Eclipse. It pages me anytime it senses a problem. That along with cameras in the lot has kept kids away from my car the past few years.
Still, I would not even think about bringing my Vette unattended to the school. One custodian, who is one of the nicest guys, had his Mustang convertible keyed. Years ago, kids also keyed another student's Hummer (yes, a Hummer) so many times, that the entire thing was destroyed. Whoever it was, would go around the vehicle in circles gouging the paint up. It had at least 3 rows of keys marks al the way around. Really sick ****.
Sorry about your car.... I don't understand Jealousy at all. I could care less if someone makes ten times as much $$ as me, has nicer things, or a prettier GF/wife ect. That's them, not me.
That sucks some people really suck. Hasn't happened to my new C5 and hopefully never does. But by coincidence it happened to my jeep I left at work the day I bought the vette. Brand new 2014 Jeep with only 10,000 miles on it. Some people have no respect for other peoples property.
Mine got keyed when I first got it 20 years ago when I first saved up for a cheap coupe at school. It took the jerk only 5 hours to key it!
Then, subsequently another side of the car got keyed the following day. Me and my buddies decided to wait out on the 3rd day hiding behind the trees. Alas, the jerk decided to do it again and we nailed him pretty bad. He told me that spot was his! It was a public f******g parking lot!
Although I did found out who did it and why. I wished I didn't have to deal with him. It's stupid and could get me some disciplinary actions.

Oh but it did feel pretty good giving him back some karma....didn't it?
I ran into the store for 5 minutes and came out to a key mark from under the driver side door handle all the way to the front wheel well
Luckly the key didn't make it through the clear coat so they should be able to buff or wet sand the scratch out
It's a shame... You work hard to own your dream car and somebody comes along and does this.. I parked in the empty part of the lot away from the other cars to avoid door dings. And I wasn't parked like a jackass taking up two stalls.....
Anyone else had this happen to their vette?
Get an In car camera that can record while you are away from it..there are jealous and mean people everywhere. Training begins at home IMO and a lot of people don't even try to teach their children anything other than stay out of my hair and don't bother me.What a world we live in..Sorry about the damage to your car.. Someone did this to our daughters pristine Camaro when she had it in the parking lot when she was in high school. They keyed the whole car
Another time, I had to run to work for my boss and drive my dd 350z to Home Depot to pick up supplies boss wanted. I came out and found a shopping basket had been deliberately drug down the left side of my car..I am sure it was on purpose as I was parked next to curb so another car could only park on right side of my car. There wasn't room to move a basket between my car and the curb so they took the cart and half on curb and half on asphalt pushed it down the car!! Home Depot refused to review their parking lot cameras even though I was parked close to front entrance.

Alas no matter what, $h*t happens..somebody was jealous..pissed off..or who knows. This happened to me in the transmission shop. I just shined trying to make a claim, I didn't want to have the entire fender and tail repainted. I couldn't prove it wasn't already there anyway..my body shop guy touched it up for me at no cost.
At least my car is a driver with a fair share of imperfections so I don't lose sleep over it.
wow Southlake is 15 min for me, thank god I don't have a hummer, and if I ever caught someone keying my car I would kick the **** out of them!!
My 20 year old nephew caught two grown men in their 30's keying his 70 Chevelle. It turned into a fist fight that my nephew easily one. My nephew was arrested, charged, convicted and later sued. He now has a judgement against him for $250K. You may want to do something else.

So nice to know the lawyers got involved and completely turned the tables of justice.
