z06 stubby conversion help

So guys I bought the stubby metal antenna and when I go to remove the tall factory power antenna I don't know what to do about the plastic cable that runs to the antenna. Can I get some help here? 02 z06 and I just applied my rear blackout kit so I don't wanna take out tailight if possible. Thx guys

If you have to, isn't the taillight 2 screws and about 20 seconds?

You don't take off the entire assembly, just unscrew the mast and replace with the stubby. Should take no more than 10 seconds.

Unless his was like mine where it was completely seized to the base actually had to cut and chip the old one away

I just removed the entire antenna assemble and plastic cable from the outside of the car. Now I have no thread to adapt the antenna to? Anyone have this problem
