I've never been and am thinking about driving in for the day on the 20th. Who has been and what advice do you have for it as a day trip. I'd be coming from the indpls area. Thanks!
I've been there the last couple of years. I drove from South Bend area down to Indy and 70 over to Effingham 70 was a nice cruise. On Saturday night they have a band which has been great. A good time, Wife really enjoyed it. Mike Yeager puts on a nice Corvette gathering. I would be there but we've moved to Florida this year. It can be hard to find a room in the area without reservations. Go and enjoy!
Never been before, but we'll be heading up there next Thursday from Birmingham. I grew up in a farming community about 40+ miles north of Effingham and still have family there so lodging is not a problem. I'll finally be putting a few miles on my "new" C5. Getting new tires this week (Hankook Ventus V12s), and have a bra on order that hopefully will arrive on time. Just hope the weather is good. Should be a fun trip.
I'm on my Great Fall Trip right now. Left NC today to spend two days with my 83 year old Mother (who upon my arrival insisted on a top down Corvette ride), then to Ohio for a 4 day reunion with some of my best buddies in the whole world with whom I entered Iraq in March, 2003. From there it's west to Kansas City on Sunday for a college reunion. It gets over on Friday. I was just planning to remain in KC until Sunday but could easily point the Corvette east on I-70 and head to Effingham (325 miles) on Saturday. In fact, I'm planning to stay in Effingham this Sunday night on my trek west. I checked the website and .38 Special is playing on Saturday night. Might just have to stop at Mid-America on Monday morning on my way out of town.
My son and I are planning on driving down for the day on Saturday. I'm wondering if it's worth it to spend the $35 on registration or just show up and hope for the best. Does it get you better parking maybe? Never been down there so I'm not sure what to expect.
