I'm sure some of you may already know what I'm about to say, but I'll reiterate................
On my recently purchased c5, on a part of the instrument cluster, there is a spot that is hazy, cloudy. Another place looks like a drop of what I assume was some kind of dash protectant/cleaner that was allowed to "run" a little and then dry without being wiped off. Why it looks so familiar is because in years passed, "I" did the SAME THING one time on one of MY previous cars. I sprayed some protectant on my dash, and some of it got on my instrument cluster (lens), and I did NOT immediately wipe it off of lens. I wiped it off the next day unfortunately, after a real warm day. It completely dried and hazed up my ENTIRE cluster lens to the point that I had to buy a new lens.
THIS with my c5 is NOWHERE near as bad, BUT.................it still bothers me.
QUESTION:
1. What products are out there that could help me "fix" this? What products have any of you guys maybe used in the past that worked?
2. If I can't get it to the point of satisfaction, is it possible to buy ONLY THE CLUSTER LENS cover (as a replacement) and NOT the ENTIRE CLUSTER itself, for a c5? How about a "used" one?

Well, you could certainly buy a used cluster and just swap the clear covers on them. They come up for sale every now and then here in the C5 Parts for Sale section or you could check with a used parts vendor.
Not sure if a plastic polish would work well or not. Meguires makes one I think - could be worth a try.
What about a headlight restoring kit? Don't those remove the film and hazy look from plastic headlight lenses.
Yes, had the same problem with my 04 Vert, the previous owner used Fantastic or some other on solvent based cleaner that clouds the acrylic, if you are patient and use light compound, then glaze then a cleaner wax it will come out better than new, I have done it, I know it works.
Thanks much guys for all the responses. REALLY appreciated. I'm gonna try the polish, etc. first and then see what happens.
I can NOT express how valuable this forum has been so far. I just joined up recently when I started looking. It has REALLY helped in solving these little 'issues' that inevitably arise when buying a 15 y/o car.
