There is no reason for the LMC5 to not work correctly. There are 3 different LMC5 so one of these should fix the problem. Anyone with a LMC5 question should call Richard at Compliance. He is one of the most helpful vendor on this site.
Yes I have talked with Richard before.... super nice guy... and I guess I will be talking to him again soon. Thanks for the input!!
Just finished the brown wire change - nothing to it when its 30 degrees cooler and you know what to expect when you crawl under the dash. Started the car about 20 times and no "Remove Key…"

LMC5 is another marvel of science!
Thanks for posting your experience with this. I installed the LMC5 in my 2003 AE Friday night. Started getting the pull key today. Re-read the instructions and did a search on the forum. I'll do the brown wire fix and hopefully not have to worry about this any more.
i installed the lmc5
still get the remove key wait 10 seconds displayed and
fuel shutoff if i dare
i take it out put on me seatbelt check the mirrors put the key in
maybe four seconds later
everything fine
it never asks me twice in a row like it used to
so i been putting up with it
a compete fix wud be nice =)
Send Richard at Compliance an e-mail - he will likely tell you to do the brown wire part of the procedure. Had the same problem on the 2001 M6 but had no issues on the 2004.
Stupid question about the K-harness - I've read there were several different versions of the GM recall. Did they all involve installing the k-harness? I was at the dealer pricing tire sensors, and while there I asked if the recall had been performed.
He said yes, the software had been flashed with an updated version. He said only the software was updated, no hardware was installed. Is this correct?
There was also a recall about seatbelts that had been fixed.
Well, 7,000 miles later and continuing without ever having performed the brown wire trick, I can report that I have gotten the "wait 10 seconds" message exactly twice. Thus my laziness has cost me 20 seconds. At that rate it will be about 10 years before I will have waited as much time as it would take to do the brown wire install at a professional's speed. I'm no pro.
How about providing some info about your car like year and manual or automatic trans?????????
What was done to a given car for the GM Column Lock Recall Service was dependant upon what year it was and type of trans as well as when the recall service was done (ie before March of 2006 or after that date..........
It is a 98 vert, manual transmission. I don't know the date of the recall service but suspect it was before 2006, the dealer said it had 9000 miles at the time. It has 16000 now. It was my dads car, I don't think he drove it much the last several years.
I get the random "pull key, wait 10 seconds" thing too. Never had it before the LMC5. Sounds like I probably need to do the brown wire thing as well.
What year is yours?
For what it's worth, I contacted them and sent me out the 5-wire LMC5 or whatever it's called. That seemed to do the trick, haven't seen the message since.
Hello Sir, I spend three days trouble shooting no fuel supply. Relay, fuse, wiring, connectors and ended up pulling and fixing the fuel pump. Now the car runs and revs perfectly! However, the problem as mentioned here...can't pass 2mph. Do I need to buy a 'kit', or is there a cut-and-splice solution? Thanks in advance for a reply!
