Did you clean out your AC condenser so the air will flow thru it?

I work hard to keep my car clean and nice. Even blowing out the radiator. But recently, we had it up on a lift for another thing, and decided to blow out and clean the area around the condensor and radiator.
I was amazed, at how much stuff (twigs, pieces of leafs, etc) which came out, just since the last time I cleaned it.

This should be your first attempt to lower operating temps. These things are really bottom feeders, live vacuum sweepers of crap laying around on the ground, as we drive. For me, I learned I need to do this more often, than I did before. I drive mine daily, so it is necessary. Live, and learn.....

You could have air trapped in the system, too. Others more knowledgable about that than I, will comment most likely, about how to check that. But you have to 'burp' the system.

Don

I would burp the system. More likely air in the cooling system. I can never get mine properly burped with the shop manual procedure but this one works every time. At least for my car...

but he had the problem BEFORE he changed anything ...gotta wonder how he would get air in the system

OP for clarity. Did you replace all of the items and now have the high temps or did you replace the items because of the high temps? Being that you replaced all those components, you likely have air in the system. It is important to know if the problem existed prior to the new parts to determine if you have another problem.

Sounds like the system needs to be "Burped".....its got an air bubble that needs to be bleed out.

If it will sit and idle at 200 degrees, it ain't the fans. And as 8vette7 said, the fans are programmed off at speeds above 35. Idle will quickly take the temp over 225 without the fans. I'm betting the guys are right who say air in the system.

Seems like a similar problem recently turned out to be a head gasket. Anyone recall that thread?

Take a look at this thread. One other important factor that would make it idle ok, but hot at speed: Is you center airdam in place to direct the air into the radiator at speed?
