What is the best brand, color code, to duplicate the GM red brake caliper paint?
I am upgrading my brake kit to the Baer Eradispeed +2 rotors (front and back) and the front brake kit has new caliper brackets, however they are silver (not black as other online pictures show) and I want to paint the brackets similar to my current set up. The challenge is that my original brackets were painted by a shop that is no longer in business and I'm trying to match up as closely as possible.
I knew the +2 kit had extensions for the rear calipers but I wasn't expecting to have to install new caliper brackets in front. I guess I didn't read the product description closely enough. No biggie, I just need to paint them first.
No idea what color they used, but I would think reds would be close on any straight red you choose. POR-15 red should work well and last.
Thanks. Since I'm only painting the front caliper brackets, I want to match them up to the OEM GM Red caliper paint as closely as possible. I'm colorblind at times (ask my wife), and there are so many reds available, I just want to find out if there is an "official" GM red caliper color code. I know this may be OCD, however it is Corvette-related.
Well, I'd be surprised if the POR-15 red was different enough to notice from the bracket to caliper, but I've never put them next to each other. I know the Chevy Orange engine enamel was spot on to existing orange on my truck motor and my calipers are silver, not red.

Thanks. Is "POR-15" the color code or is that specific to a brand? I know that Autozone, etc. has paint specific to brake calipers/hardware so do I cross-reference that paint code?
I used Rust-Oleum "Safety Red" paint on my calipers after grinding them down for my Baer Eradispeed +2 rotors. The rears matched up the front so well i even touched up the fronts afterwards with it.

POR-15 is damn near bomb proof, seriously best thing next to powdercoating (I usually powdercoat because I have a setup).

On my last two C5s I have used Folia Tec caliper paint in bright red. Can't say for sure if it matches what you have on your calipers, but it is a close match to torch red.
I thought about that, however since the rear brackets are also painted red, I would have to paint those also. Plus, I personally like the brackets and calipers both being read as it fills in the wheel.
Is the full kit required or just the paint? They brackets don't need to be cleaned or de-greased and the brackets and other components are zinc-coated.

Per my exchange with Toque, he did the same thing. Did you apply a clear afterwards or did the gloss finish of the Rustoleum Safety Red match up to the finish of the OEM calipers?
MSG I used the red engine enamel on my hat's or brackets , I went with a white primer 3 coats..then the actual red paint then with 4 coats of clear coat with a light sanding between each coat, it match's almost perfectly
