I Was doing some surfing for vert care... and possibly discovered why the 02 to 04 C5 verts may be quieter and cooler than the previous models......
Did you know..... that the Factory Cloth material for 98 to 01 models is Haartz Twillfast II Cloth, for 02 to 04 models is Haartz Twillfast MC Cloth.
The Twillfast II Cloth is a 3-ply top...
The Twillfast MC Cloth is a 5- ply top...
Please add to the DYK........if you have some possible weird, little known, or absurd fact about corvettes...........

I believe the improvements came out in 2001. My '01 vert is extremely quiet inside.

if you want a quiet car, get a; lexus, volvo, prius, etc. LOL
In truth other factors such as the *road quality, and rims & tires you're running play a big role.
We've all been cruising along on the highway quietly and then you hit an older patch of pavement & the road noise signifigantly increases.
The carpeting in the back of a Z06 is commical. It's maybe a 1/5 of an inch thin, lifts right up & there you go- straight bare bones fiber glass with the mufflers just beneath. There's no hiding when you're getting on it and I personally love it ;-)
