Default Wheels & Tires Information Request

Well it's time to dive in and buy some new wheels and tires for my C-5.
Would like some suggestions from the field if you up-graded to larger wheels and tires, changed the style of wheels or stayed with the size and type that came with the car.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Nick

When I bought my car, it had a set of chrome C5 Z06 wheels on it (reproduction wheels). Honestly, I think they are one of the best looking wheel styles for the C5.

If I were going to change though, I would be giving serious consideration to either the CCW lineup or maybe the Cray Brickyards.

I went with reproduction C6 Z06 chrome wheels, std C5 sizes (and Michelin non-runflats), couldn't be happier.

I'm thinking about these except in a deep dish set-up for my EBM

I looked at the deep dish, but preferred the way the spokes mold into the rim edges on the standard type.........but nothing wrong with the deep dish type.

I went with lower offsets than standard which makes the wheels stick out just a little over stock and gives a slightly more aggressive stance.

Chrome rims are so much easier to keep clean than my previous polished aluminum stock rims........(plus very low dust ceramic pads).

Are these c6 z06 replicas, they loook great. What vendor did you get them from. OE wheels has them for 568.00 plus S&H. I am not sure if they have my size, sent them a email today to see if they have them. Great price on a good looking wheel.

I chose C6 "base" wheel and tire sizes (18x245/40 F, 19x285/35 R). Got them as a set from tire rack, mounted, balanced, plus new TPMS sensors. Got to be the easiest option out there, you just put them on the car and train the TPMS system. The only challenge is knowing what to do with your wagon wheels and (nearly bald) old tires!

The wheels I chose are ZR1 style. I opted for Michelin Pilot A/S as the car gets driven in all weathers - unless it is snowing!

IMO, C5's looks much better with 18/19 wheels - 17/18's are small in today's world.

I've had these for 7or 8 years now. They have held up very well. I got them from forum vendor, Bob's House of Wheels. Great price and fast shipping. The sizes are 18x9.5" 265-35-18 front and 19x11.0" 305-30-19.

Really depends on what you're looking for...

For performance gains, you'll want 10.5" or 11" wide rear wheels and a 305 series tire.

If you're looking for more looks, there's plenty of affordable options.

The inexpensive cast reproduction wheels weight A LOT more than stock or forged aluminum wheels, and will affect the performance of the car... but unless you're a racer you might not even notice.

TSW wheels are a good balance, they're lighter than most other aftermarket wheels and aren't that expensive.

CCW or HRE wheels would always be my first choice, but they're around $800+ PER WHEEL.

I personally searched Ebay and the for sale forum here until I found a used set of performance wheels for a good price, and I'm very happy with them, but then again if performance wasn't my main gain, I would have bought some cheap wheels in a heart beat.

Would love to have CCWs but the budget won't allow, so I got these for now....

Heavy but I like the look and I'm not a racer, 18" front and 19" rear
