Just got my c5. I would like to change the exhaust. I want something better/more aggressive sounding than stock, but probably NOT as loud as some of you guys on here like. I know of flowmaster, corsa, borla, magnaflow, Billy Boat etc.....etc.......
Any ideas/input? I want it to be a little more aggressive than stock, but not terribly so. I went for a ride in one recently and on take off at certain rpms (1500-2500) it was too loud inside. I'm gonna try to find out tomorrow what exactly he had underneath, lol, so I don't repeat it..........
I have a chance to get a good deal on a "Billy Boat Route 66" exhaust for a c5 from a guy who said he just "upgraded". What would you "upgrade" to after having the BB Route 66? Something louder? Talk to me..
The exhaust is already off the car so I have no idea what it sounds like.
What have been some of you guys' experiences, either with the BB OR any other exhausts?
You can also use the 'search' feature = = upper right of the post listings- and query Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa etc - - the various exhaust manufactures and read all the posts - - - it's a frequent topic - -figured that would help get you more info more quickly-
Good luck - - I've put BB66's on 3 of my Vettes so far and obviously, like the sound.
Find a Corvette club in your area and attend a meeting. Only your ears can be the judge. I'm sure the guys would enjoy letting you "hear" some of the systems!
Hit up UTube. All kinds of stock and/or modified sound clips. I have sound clips from when I went from stock to the Z06 TI's if you want them. To me, the motor boat sound was what I had to get rid of. The TI's didn't do it (didn't think it would but does sound better) so went and got LGMotorsport Headers, which comes with their cat/x-pipe assembly, and the motor boat is now sunk. Awesome sound now. I've heard that getting rid of the stock H-Pipe and replacing it with an X-Pipe solves this problem to. Good Luck!
