Default Shaved Air Dam

I fully understand that the front air dam is required. My car is lowered and I would say I am scraping them every day I drive the car including backing out of my garage. So the idea is to shave maybe an inch off of the bottom of the air dams. Has anyone experience doing this or have ideas as to if it is a viable option?

Thanks!

The center portion of the air dam is attached to a spring loaded rod, which allows it to pivot, and roll over minor obstructions. I'd make sure its able to move, and not worry about it. The side pieces are flexible, and shouldn't present a problem.

Took mine off, no problems I've seen others just using the middle portion since that's the one that directs air up, I might do that if I feel the need for it.

I took my side pieces off and left the middle on... no issues to speak of yet.

I think they pretty much "self shave".

Removed the sides and shaved off 3/4" from the center. Lowered all the way on stock bolts, I don't scrape on anything, including slowly-taken speed bumps. My splitter directs air to the center scoop so, along with a lower fan turn-on temp, I never see water temps go beyond 201°.

mine is cut in half and I don't have any issues... I would keep it as close to the ground as possible while also keeping it far enough off the ground that you don't scrape it everywhere you go... I believe it is also designed to help keep the front end on the ground at high speeds so I wouldn't totally remove it if you like to drive fast

I shaved mine by the amount that I lowered the car. End result, still the same height off of the ground that it was stock. Works fine.

No problem for street driving, I wouldn't want to track it that way though.

I also removed my two small sides ones and folded up tightly the middle one with no issues at all.

I like mine, I consider it a warning when it scrapes really badly that the ramp or speedbump is too high and I might bottom out on my rockers. Is that why they call them rockers, because if you get high centered you rock on them? Or is that another thread

But if you desire, you should be able to shave a small portion off to help minimize the scraping.

Park the car on level smooth ground.
Using a block of wood and pencil, it's easy to run a nice even line parallel to the ground.
Then trim off the unwanted material with a pair of metal cutters/snips.
