Default C6 Z06 Shock installation question

So I have a set of C6 Z06 shocks that I am hoping to install in the next couple of weeks. The only problem is that I have the F55 suspension and (to the best of my research on this forum) the only way to not throw a code upon removing them is to use a Tech 2.

Since I will probably end up having to take my car to a mechanic anyways to get this resolved, would it be quicker/easier to just have the mechanic install the shocks in the first place?

I happen to be located in Orange County California. Does anyone know of a shop where I can get this code removed? Likewise, does anyone know of a shop that would feel comfortable installing C6 Z06 shocks on a C5 corvette, just in case I decide to go that route.

Thanks!

You are right about the Tech II deprogramming. I researched the heck out of it and that is the only way I found to eliminate the speed restriction of 80 MPH. I had F55s that were all leaky.

Changing the shocks is no biggie, it took me a few hours, reserve a Saturday afternoon or something for it. Taking it to a mechanic is the easiest, but not as much fun and more expensive. There is alot of tricks here on how to change them, compress them enough to get them out. I used the Tie Wrap method.

As far as fitment - I would defer that comment to one of the members who is more familiar with shock choices. There are lots here!

I believe there is a DIY to add a resistor to the plug of each shock to fool it.

From what I have found. That works with the F45 suspension not so much the F55 suspension.

OK, I don't know what the difference between the 2 are.

F55 came out in 2003, replacing the F45 option. and Eaglerulez is correct, F55s cannot be fooled by the resistor pack.

Thanks! Yeah I think I want to install them just for the sport of it haha. I am thinking of getting the car aligned at a Corvette shop, so maybe they will have a tech 2.

Another place to check prices with if you decide to have someone do the install would be Corvette Mike in Anaheim.
