quick question stuck at 7-11 need column lock help
Just had a beautiful drive to lunch up the lake st. clair for lunch with my mom and dad in their zr-1 just went up to get some beer and CLB. I have read before but am not home. I can fix it once i reasearch it, should i tow home or to the stealership?
The clb recall was done, will the dealer do it again? Then I install bypass?
Thank you, does the dealer need to unlock it in any way first?
No. All modern CLBs come with the option to purchase a column unlocker along with it. They usually plug into the 12V source so you can unlock the column, then install the CLB.
Do not allow the dealer to perform any work on the car unless you like throwing away hundreds from your wallet.
overnight the lmc 5 from compliance eng. for 40.00 and fix it in place and save the tow bill. It takes about 30 min. no special tools needed. If U trust leaving it overnight at the location it locked.
I really appreciate it guys. I got home and was able to use the search. It was towed to dealer with AAA So free. I called and the guy owned an 02 said he broke mine loose I said I'll come pick it up. Ordering the lcm5 tonight and I have been wanting a skip shift for a while so Win/win

You may also want to buy the column unlocker for $6 just in case it relocks. LMC5 was easy to install. Hope you enjoyed the beer under the circumstances.
My neighbors kid just had the same issue. I think the results were very similar if not exact to yours. Go buy more beers and invite some friends over this weekend for an install party. Easy installs are a great time for a get together in the garage. Low chance of screw up. Put the keys away though if you even sniff a beer. Have fun.
