Bought some new tires from Tire rack.com now I'm having trouble getting someone to install them. Tried a number of their installers not willing to put nonrun flats on a car that came with run flats...This Sucks
try an off brand tire installed the national chains are by the book......
Or remove the wheels yourself & take everything to an installer for mounting/balancing. They don't need to know what vehicle you're putting them on. I prefer that method anyway -- less chance of wheel damage.
I bought my last set of Hankooks online (not Tire Rack). I took my wheels off and took them to the shop that does work I can't do in my shop. Not because I didn't want to tell them what car they went on, I just couldn't get the four new tires in my vert anyway LOL. I marked each wheel indicating the position on the car, the shop mounted the new tires with a no-touch tire machine and then balanced. Took them back, put them on the car - perfect.
What you are looking for is likely called an "independent" shop.
So it was explained to me, "independents" don't have to follow the (sometimes) self imposed "industry standards"
Patching a runflat, for example. There's only a couple places around me that will do so, with the majors claiming its a violation of "industry standard" to patch one.
If asked, they refer to a specific "independent" shop.
I checked into tire rack's recommended installer for my area. The place is all but shut down and has a poor reputation.
I may pay more at discount tire but they will do it all. Then I have I Celays tire and wheel. I cracked a mag(bimmer)and they welded it right up and sent me on my way.
Unfortunately discount is limited on the wheels they carry but this is only an issue for my bimmer as well.
