Default Sure could use some help here.

In an effort to see what I would need to install an after market head unit, I tried to contact Dennis @ double d.
The email link on the site doesn't work when I clicked on submit, so I tried twice to call him this past week.
Who ever answered the phone, took down my number both times, and as yet, no response from him.

So I went to Crutchfield's site, and found the correct adapter, but very little info as to how to connect it to an aftermarket unit.
I downloaded the directions from their site, but it only goes into detail as to connecting the wires to one another, and at that it doesn't include all the wires that are on my replacement head unit.

I have one wire for the antenna, and the directions say nothing about where to connect that wire, plus I have one called telephone muting, which isn't mentioned in their directions.
Then the picture of the unit shows a small white plug with green and purple wires, with again, no explanation of what it plugs into, and the same for a small black plug.

The directions show a somewhat silver box that has an adjustment for the woofers in the door, but in the picture attached, I don't even see that box that you do the adjusting with.
This whole thing has me really confused, and as much as I hate to think about it, I may have to have a professional installer put the system in.

Can someone who has installed this device give me some pointers on just how to connect this thing?
It is self explanatory as to connecting most of the wires, but what the hell do all these little plugs and boxes shown in the picture connect too?
Thanks,
Bob.

Do you have any of the new equipment in hand yet?

If yes, what are the exact and complete model/part numbers for the new radio and the interface adapter that you have?

If you already have the XSVI-2004 all you have to do is follow the INSTRUCTIONS and match all XSVI wires to the same color radio wires, but with one exception. The orange/white dimmer wire from the new radio needs to be connected to the HVAC controls, not the XSVI. CLICK HERE to see which wire to tap for the HU dimmer.

You can ignore the orange/white XSVI wire, and any other wires on either the radio or XSVI that aren't mentioned in the instructions link that I posted. Adjust the front pots on the XSVI to make the subs sound right.

You'll also need an antenna adapter and a face plate mounting adapter. The cheap plastic mounts are $15, but HUmount.com has some nice illuminated ones like this:

If you're not running your cellphone through the stereo with some sort of Bluetooth attachment, ignore the muting wire: it's to kill the stereo output when you're talking on the phone. The antenna wire from the HU is to raise/lower a retractable antenna...if I believe the FSM schematic, it should connect to pin 8 on connector C1 (dark green) on the radio, which is the large connector on the harness. (Caveat: I have a coupe, so I didn't do this on mine.)

I don't have anything accept the head unit that I want to install.
I read the instruction, and that is why I posted here after reading them.

There is nothing in the instructions(at least I didn't see anything) that tell me what and where these boxes pictured plug into, or what the wires and plugs shown connect too, also nothing about connecting the antenna wire that the head unit I want to install has.

I was hoping to get advice from someone who has installed this adapter, so I could connect this after market head unit.
Someone mentioned contacting double d, and I tried with email, and phone calls, and never got a reply.

Bob.
The information in my post that you quoted is EVERYTHING that you need to know. If you can handle taking the dash apart, then you can install the radio.

The plugs on the interface cables will each only fit in one place, some go to the interface box, some go to the car wires. It's a square pegs and round holes thing

There will be extra wires that you don't need to connect anywhere, ignore them

Dennis will most likely tell you exactly what I did

markcz, In one of your post you mentioned that I would need a antenna adapter.
I assume that is for the antenna to raise when the unit is turned on.
Assuming the stock system has some sort of wire for this, why can't I connect my antenna wire on my new head unit to the wire that operates the antenna in the stock system?

Bob

If you want some help with the install I am available in the evenings. I am in Orange County. I have done a full system replacement in my C5. PM me if interested.

The antenna adapter that is being referred to is for connecting the coax antenna cable to the antenna input on the new radio. GM uses a smaller connector that will not lock into place on an aftermarket radio.

The antenna up/down control is in the factory harness and should be available in the adapter you purchased.

The ROEM-Vet1 would be my 1st choice also

Correct, you need an adapter so the car antenna can be plugged in to the new radio.

Ignore the HU antenna wire, it's taken care of by the 'amp remote' in C5.

For some low value of "also": I have yet to hear a complaint about the Axxess unit that holds up under critical scrutiny.

Gary, thanks for the offer.
I will more than likely take you up on it.
Presently I am tied up with business matters, and as soon a s they are taken care of, I will pm you so we can set up some time.
I have not purchased anything yet because I wanted to make sure I get everything I need at one time.
The head unit is a JVC that I had in another vehicle, so that is the starting point
Will let you know about driving down to OC.

Bob.
