just make sure it is a group 78, most auto parts stores list in the computers a 75 which is smaller and easier to get in but lack the reserve power. I am using autozone gold top and satisfied with it and I worked at a battery dealer until last year and could have bought my battery for cost and could have bought a optima and didn't, take that for what it is worth.
I don't know your situation, age, retired with fixed income, do it yourselfer. But Pep Boys are selling Bosch premium group 75 with 3 yr free replacement. 700 CCA 100 reserve capacity and free installation for $121.99. Just trying to help and I have this in one of my other cars.

Those numbers will work on earlier C5's with side posts. Since he didn't state the year, we have to assume that after we look into his profile that his car is a 99 and those size batteries are fine. To answer your (the OP) exact question, people are using all different brands of batteries and they are mostly satisfied with whatever they bought.
I had an Optima Yellow top that lasted a LONG time. I was very happy with it. But lately I've just been getting the top line battery at Advance Auto. They are a 1/4 mile from my house (so convenient) and the warranty on the battery is great. These cars can be really hard on a battery, so it's nice to know if the battery dies early, I'm getting money back towards a new one. Plus they always have coupon codes to help with the cost.
10 years ago--the Optima was made in Aurora,Colorado by American tax payers. Now they are made in Mexico and 160 Americans lost their jobs .
Aside from this-the Mexican made Optimas have a very bad service life in comparison to the American made Optimas.
That's the first I've heard that. Would go a long way to explaining why people like me love Optima batteries (bought my first probably 10 to 15 years ago) and others hate them.

That does explain a lot. I started using them 15 years ago and had incredible results. But I keep hearing bad stuff about them and I keep seeing them in core piles.
The 04s take the group 86 top mount only battery as stated above. I am using the Bosch in my 04 and am very pleased with it so far. Been three years now.
Exide battery every 5 years. No tender in the winter, starts right up. I drive it as much as possible . Average about 3 or 4 times that I get it out in the winter.
