Default ceramic brake pads

I don't want to restart the debate over whether ceramic brake pads are good. I've read the threads and come to my own conclusion.

I have a bone stock C5 with the Z51 suspension and the original rotors that I have no desire to replace. I use my car as a daily drive and never take it to the track. I have been told (by a wheel specialist) to get high-end ceramic pads. He didn't mention a brand he just suggested that you get what you pay for.

I don't want to throw money away, but I can afford good pads. With that in mind, what would you recommend I get?

What are you looking to achieve by going Ceramic pads? That will help in getting the right pads.

I want to cut down on brake dust while having the most precise and strongest brakes possible within the universe of low-dust brakes. I am not an aggressive driver and don't track my car so I don't need to worry about repeated hard braking.

Sounds like me and you have the same preferences. Go with the Carbotech 1521 brake pads. I'm currently running them on my Z06 with Baer Eradispeed rotors.
They bite damn hard and produce little to no brake dust.

Adam here on the forum will hook you up.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I don't have an opinion on which brand to go with, but you might want to wait a few hours for others to get home from work, have dinner and then check CF!

Maxx, we have had at least 10 emails back and fourth. Did I sell you a product that works as stated?

In another thread Maxx mentioned something about a slight squeak coming from the rear. Maxx, did that ever get resolved?

I went with the AC Delco Dura Stop pads and love them!
There is minimal brake dust, no squeal and stopping as good as the stock asbestos pads.
My car is used for street use only as is yours!
I went through the same process as you are at the beginning of the summer as I was tired of cleaning the brake dust off my rims after short trips. After much analysis I decided the Dura Stops were best for me and after a summer of driving I highly recommend them.

FWIW: I ran AC Delco Ceramics on my C5 and took them out after 400 miles. I hated everything about them

I replaced them with Carbotech 1521 and loved the performance and much much much less dust. I run them on my C7 also.

I'm running the Akebono ceramic pads on the front and rear of my vette. I really like them. They stop really well and have virtually no brake dust. I gave these a shot because I could get them over the counter at a local parts store and didn't have to wait on something I ordered.

I get virtually "NO" brake dust and have had them in since early summer. I find it interesting that you get "much much much less" dust than this and have used them all of 400 miles. Interesting comment I would take with a grain of salt!

Yep it turned out being old brake pad clips that needed replacing.
I'm really happy with them and would buy again.

Had my 04 since Dec.2010. Put approximately 2000 to 2500 mile on it a year . Needed Rotors and Pads from day one.
Went with Brake Motive rotors and AC Delco Ceramics were installed and they are still on there with not one problem !

This is exactly what I brought but ditched the pads.

I had the pads on there for a couple of hundred miles and the dust that was created was just as bad as metallic pad so I threw them out and got AC Delco pad...been great ever since.
Oh,and the Zinc Coating is still clean and rust free around the hats. !
When it comes time to replace I'm going with these guys again !
