Bent fuel filler flapper
This evening I was adding fuel additive in preparation for winterizing my vehicle. Since I didn't want to use the whole bottle I used a funnel to ensure I could control the amount of additive. When I pulled out the funnel it hooked on the inner flap of the gas filler and bent it. Can someone tell me what is the purpose of this flap? Is it needed? I would appear to me that it is a vapor barrier to prevent vapors from escaping the tank when the gas cap is removed? Does it have a name? I'm trying to decide if I should take this into the shop and have it fixed. One concern I have is if it drops into the tank
.I have attached a picture.
Thank you.
John

I did find a couple of interesting posts on the C6 forums:

I also found another long one with folks not finding this flap in their C6 filler holes (unfortunately, I can't find that one anymore).
