I have been suffering from the dreaded engine chirp for some time now. I replaced the main belt with a gatorback belt earlier in the year. It seemed to help, but it didn't eliminate the noise. I decided to go ahead and replace the tensioner and idler pulleys on both the main and a/c system, along with a new a/c belt. It seems to have done the trick, at least for now.

I had the same problem and ended up replacing nearly everything on the front of the engine. The harmonic balancer (crankshaft pulley) finally did the trick. Afterwards a buddy of mine told me to try turning the belt around. Sometimes that works, but since I have not had the problem re-occur I have not tried it.
Take a look at your main pulley with the engine idling and see if it wiggles or jumps. If that is your problem, at some point it will start throwing belts. When that happens you will have to stop and get a tow because the car will not have any cooling.
