Repair of rear defroster
The wire and metal tabs that attached to the window were broken when I bought the car - a friend suggested "electrical contact cement?" I've never used it before (electrically conductive cement) but assuming that someone out there makes it...

As far as reattaching the metal tab goes, I tried about three glues and nothing worked. I went to a glass shop and presto it was permanently fixed for very little cost.

On my 2003 the driver's side wire was broken off. The tab was firmly mounted to the rear glass, but it looked like the wire had flexed so much from the hatch being opened that it eventually broke right where it was crimped into the tab (definitely a bad design - no stress relief for the wire).
A quick try with a soldering iron was pretty futile as the whole back glass acts as a heat sink and it wouldn't melt the solder.
I went to O'Reillys (couldn't get it at Auto Zone) and got a Permatex rear defogger kit for about 12 bucks that is basically "electrically conductive adhesive". I stripped the wire back about 1/4", flattened it out, and glued it to the top of the tab.
The defroster works now, and the wire seems to still be holding to the tab. Short of taking it somewhere to pay bigger $$$ than I want to spend I'll just get another kit if/when it breaks off again.
