The C5 has the worst sounding stereo system of any car hands down. My Dodge Neon I had in 94 had a superior system. I plan on A Double D Mods double din conversion and stereo but I just cant see spending almost a grand on a stereo and leaving those crappy Bose speakers in my car. What steps are needed to delete Bose and put in some nice speakers? Is it a simple swap or do I have to delete some component?
I have a nav unit in my c5 z06 with the bose speakers and I am pretty happy with them, when they are adjust properly they sound pretty good..but then again I would rather listen to my supercharger then the radio..lol

Guess I'm not as picky as you on the stereo - I don't have any problems with the Bose and it certainly sounds better than the stereo in many other cars I've been in.
Dennis at Double D Mods has posted up a number of speaker combinations in the past - try contacting him and pose your replacement questions to him. I would bet he has something that will replace your Bose system speakers.
...start at post #48 to see what I did with the stereo in my C5.
Short summary, I kept the OEM HU and replaced all speakers, adding a sub and amp. Love the way it sounds now and it looks completely factory except for the amp mounted in back.

I'm with you. The stock system sounds great to me cruising at 70 with the top down. With all the road and engine noise, the cockpit of a C5 is not Carnegy Hall and the days of ear damaging sound levels are long gone for me..
One of the comments I get regularly when someone rides with me in the 04 is how good the stereo sounds. It's completely stock and it's a convertible. Maybe yours just needed some repair?
My CD player is OK but radio sucks, I have an s10 chevy truck that sounds better. I hardly ever play radio anymore. Mine is an 01 coupe but then again I have an 04 tundra and a 08 highlander and they are nothing to write home about either. Go figure
