Default buying c5

hi, so i have owned several corvettes, 1991, 1998, 1979, 1993. and the c5 is by far my favorite. i am about to buy one again since i sold the others, i am looking at a 2000 navy blue metallic. my question is what problems should i look out for. anything go bad on that year? i know its the first year of the projection screen. also someone said that year had head problems??? any help would be appreciated thank you

Suh .. I say Suh! Them's shore 'naff fighten' words.

You got a love that little dude.

First problem I had was A/C. That's been discussed a couple times,
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...g-problem.html

I also had a problem with a tic showing up in the #8 cylinder a few weeks after I bought it. Mechanic from the local club said it was a minor issue with the timing. He.fixed it for less than $50.

Lots of folks, including mine, have problems with poor seaseat attachment or the ever present "rocking seat".

You can ignore 8VETTE he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about

J/K, he's a sharp, seasoned and vetsmart cookie but he did start it The 2001+ have some upgrades but IMO they are not worth passing up a 2000 for. If you find a vet you like that's all that matters. You will read horror stories about parts that are not servicable or available but in reality you have a better chance of your garage catching fire then to be one of the select few out of the hundreds of thousands on the road with this problem.

The threads he posted give you all the nessesary items to check and will allow you to complete a better pre purchase inspection than your average mechanic could do.

You can use the information in those threads if there are any price negotiations. Most ads for early C5 have already determined price taking into account for the upgrades to the 2001 and newer C5s.

Actually the HUD came out in model year 1999. And I had a 2000 coupe for 7.5 years and never had any problems with the heads on the car. Plus I have not heard of any issues with the heads on a '00. My '00 did have the leaking rear differential seal and excessive oil consumption problems though.
