This is the plug on both doors immediately behind the door pull.
They are about 2" long and 1/2" wide with rounded ends.
I purchased a couple of these on Ebay recently.
The original was missing one day, and I found it between the seat and the door sill.
One of the prongs was broken off.
Problem is, the replacement doesn’t want to easily ‘snap’ into place.
Anyone with experience with doing this?
I just don’t want to break a new one.

I've replaced mine on both doors and I didn't have a problem putting them in. Just make sure it's lined up straight and apply some pressure and it'll snap in without a problem. They usually break when coming out not going in. Sometimes someone will grab the pull handle and a finger nail will snag the plug and pop it out.

That is exactly what happened to me. Used some clear silicone sealant and put back in place. Problem solved.

I pressed firmly but nothing happened… couldn’t feel it engaging anything.
Did it take something like silicone to actually hold yours in place?
Maybe there is a piece of the old one broken off inside of my door.
I need to get a flashlight and look in there.
I am curious to learn how much the plug cost on Ebay plus shipping.
I needed to buy a plug some time ago. I purchased one relatively inexpensive from my dealer in Niagara Falls, New York. I can't imagine buying one on Ebay is economically worthwhile.

They should not be that hard popping them back in.

Marc@Vettenuts.net is a supporting Vendor here and he sells them about as reasonably as you can get.
I've bought 3-4 of these over the years always because one of the tabs gets broken from age or road vibration. These are plastic and the tabs are small, they will wear out. I'd say if that's all your having to replace, count your blessings and pay the shipping, or drive to MR. Chevrolet dealer.

I paid $10.95 for two of these delivered to the door.
Cheaper than driving about 35 miles round trip to a Chevy dealer for me.
I had the same problem the two tabs on one side are more hooked than the other put this side in first you have to look carefully.
If I remember right the hole in the door in the middle is offset towards the bottom of the door slightly.
I tried to put the plug in "upside down" and it just didn't seem that it was going to fit...so I turned it over where the middle tab (there was only one middle tab on mine) was facing down. Snapped right in.

That's probably the OP's problem.
You have to line up the center tab towards the bottom for it to go in.
Bought a couple at the Stealership and mine would not pop in either.......
I sort of bowed mine in the middle and made sure the clip for the bottom was in the correct position and was able to get them to snap in.......

You have to line up the center tab towards the bottom for it to go in.
So, the long side 'without a center plastic prong' (the side with 2 Not 3 prongs) is the side I put in the Bottom of the door... 2 prongs in the bottom, not the top.
Nope the three prongs go to the bottom..........you can see that the middle hole is slightly lower than the other two.....that "third" middle tab goes in that hole.... I thing it shoves in easier on mine when I start the top in first then pop in the bottom of it.
