Hi I know this is an older thread but... Double D mods doesn't seem to still be in business. Is there somewhere else I could get a converter like the ones they mention? Thanks!
Hey folks, I have a '98 convertible with a 12 disc CD changer and it has started giving trouble. It appears to be in the loading/unloading system. It wouldn't load the CD back into the tray and loaded the next one into the player. I would have retrieve the CDs manually. Now it has quit completely. Would like to get it fixed, does anyone now a reputable place to get it repaired? Or am I better off to replace it? Bear in mind I want to use the stock mounting with no modification. Thanks
Hi guys, I had the same problem with my cd changer. I sprayed a little bit of WD40 on the actuator arm and cleaned the residue off with a small cloth and it worked just fine. Be careful not to spray too much.
Where is the actuator arm? I just bought my original C5 back from the guy that bought it from me 13 years ago. Now the 12 Disk CD player in the rear of my Coup will load the CDs. Sure, lots of options. Just trying to get the C5 working again.

Reason: Additional context.
Folks,
just to help out.
My 12 Disc Changer was giving me - Err, on the screen when I tried to use it.
I disconnected the power cable directly attached to the Player from the trunk.
I then unmounted from the vertical stand - 6 screws.
Cleaned each CD holder within the magazine.
Cleaned all the CDs and anywhere else I could - still did not work.
Then, sat the player upright and plugged the cable back in.
Turned on the ignition and the player got going.
After a few tries - it popped out a CD - which was stuck within the player (not the magazine). It did pop out and at sat in the 12th CD location.
Hmmmm, interesting.
I mounted the Player back
Plugged the cable - and it's been going ok now for about 2 weeks.
Hope this helps.
