Default C5 z06 heads

So thinking about some spring time mods, and wanted to get some advice. I'm debating between nitrous, heads, or the most expensive option of a procharger. I want to get something that won't make me scared to break something, but will have a nice power increase. I was initially thinking heads because that would refresh most of my motor since I have already done a cam and replaced most of the gaskets on the front end of the motor. My only worry is that it's a lot of money for not a lot of power. Any ideas on power increase from stage 2 heads? Larger valves with a port and polish. Nitrous would be great, but makes me nervous to run it. I have a 2001 z06 with cam, longtubes, off road x pipe and borla stingers. Car currently makes around 420 rwhp. Also, with any of these mods, are they going to require upgraded fuel pump, injectors, or clutch?

How much power do you want to make?

Heads will definitely help some. If you increase the compression ratio for a little extra power, then you do not want to add a blower. Add 20-30 RWHP for stage 2 heads.

The most bang for the buck is going to be getting BLOWN. Sounds like you already have a nice setup and ride at 420 RWHP.

Anytime you are going to increase power and torque over the 420/450 mark, I would go ahead and add a clutch to the must mod list.

If you want dependability, stay where you are. Heads would not put too much additional pressure on the motor, unless you bump the compression ratio, as long as springs, retainers, push rods, lifters and trays are matched to heads.

Nitrous would be the "easiest" but what ever path you choose everything will need to upgraded. Get ready to break out the checkbook.

I would want at least 450 Rwhp. I think nitrous would be the way to go, however the safety worries me. From what I see, with any additional mods I would need to do a fuel pump or a boost a pump and a new clutch which is a complete pain.

You already need a new clutch. Most ls6 clutches start having issues at 390ish rwhp,
Check out my mods in my profile btw. Keep in mind I made 450 on the stock intake/tb.

Too save some money you could always have us port your ls6 heads you have right now. We offer a stage 1 and stage 2.5 service. The only difference is the 2.5 uses a 2.02/1.57 valve vs the stock valves and is work 5-8 hp over the stage 1. Combos vary of course but you should see around 25-30 rwhp for most setups. We charge $750.00 for the stage 1 and $950.00 for the stage 2.5. Figuring you have to ship the heads back and forth you can assume another $100.00 into your costs.
