I've been racing in the new CAM class - Classic American Muscle for SCCA events. Over the past couple of years it has been tougher to find good tires in a 17. Do you guys know of anything that is available?

Nitto NT05 is supposed to exist in 315/35/17 but it's not a particularly good autox tire. It seems these days you need 19" wheels to have any real choices - and all of them are expensive too.

And Kumho has a utg rating of 180 and that puts them out.

I wanted 17's on all 4 corners for my car, but like you said, I surprisingly couldn't find a lot of good 17" rear tires.
I ended up going with 18"s, and 305/35/18 Nitto N555rs in the back, and overall I'm very happy with them.
I really wish I could have gone 17's though, the meatier 17" tire looks awesome on a Vette, and in theory you should be able to get a little better traction and less wheel inertia (less parasitic power loss due to wheel weight).
