To me..nothing beats a manual V8+ Vert with a rumbly exhaust...top down with the heat on low on a cool sunny morning with the radio off just listening to the exhaust rowing through the gears on a long winding road.... If there's something that beats that, please tell me? Some of you automatic stock exhaust Coupe Corvette owners who never remove the top and drive with the windows always up, radio and the AC or heat blasting mostly in traffic just haven't lived yet...

Best driving experience was when I drove MY corvette home after buying car out of state. Best because I was finally driving MY corvette.
I got a $168 speeding ticket(my only one in about 10 years) the day I bought mine..It was in November 2 years ago and it totally ruined my trip but I did have my top down and heat on low though..

Got mine 4 years ago last October. Drive home was great. Top off and top on some. Ride home seemed to short after . I had a blast driving car and no tickets.
Stock exhaust + auto but I still smile every time I start her up. Waited a long time and went through several loud muscle cars but enjoy the sound of my vette more. Maybe I am getting old - LOL

We stock coupe owners have it all: a great looking car top on or top off, low throaty growl of the stock exhaust, and extra money in the bank instead of blowing it on mods. It don't get much better than that.

I couldn't agree more. Best of both worlds in my coupe.
I've had several convertibles before I got my current ride (2000 Coupe). Though I'm only in my late 50s I had to switch to a coupe to help deal with arthritis. I traded my '96 'vert for the 2000 and made a devent deal. The same day my wife bought a convertible Mustang 5.0 with bright red paint. I had a big grin driving another 'vette, of course, but this was the first time she had an equal grin in her new 'vert. After 20 miles chasing each other we went home. As we got out she said, "Now I've got an idea of why you grin so much after driving your car." It's now a fight to see which car we take when we go together.
My best drive was driving home (Oregon Coast) from Reno, a trip of 500 miles, most of it on two lane roads. My wife left one hour ahead of me in the motorhome. We had radio comms between us. As I was leaving Susanville she called me and told me there was a CHP car headed my way. I did the speed limit and she called me again about the time the first CHP car that a second one was headed my way. The same thing happened when the second one showed up and then she didn't call anymore. When the third CHP officer passedI knew I was safe from speeding tickets all the way to the I-5 freeway and dropped the hammer. Let the fun begin. I caught her in Mount Shasta City.
