I am replacing my tires shortly.
Presently have the factory installed run flat OEM tires with 30,000 miles on them and the factory TPMS units.
Is it advisable to install new TPMS units with the new tires or is this not necessary? They are presently working well.
Also, since I don't know what they look like, is it possable for them to get damaged during the tire change?
Do they work the same with the new tires if I do or don't install new units?
I just replaced my rears on '98 last week which had 16.5 year old sensors so I would say you probably can chance it but your sensors are not expensive in 04s so I would change out - buy from Amazon Schrader.

If they are working now they should work with new tires, unless the installer damages them during the tire dismounting/mounting process. Yes, they can be damaged if the installer is not careful with the equipment used. The TPS is attached to the valve stem and there is a specific procedure recommended for breaking the bead on the tires to ensure the sensor does not get damaged. See the attachment below. And if it were me, I would go ahead and replace the sensors at the time you change the tires - they are 10 years old.
