I am helping a new corvette owner, she has a 2001 Z06. From the description previous owner removed the CATS, now that she lives in MD. She had the CATS re-installed in order to pass the state inspection.

She said she read codes (which she provided me), most of the codes are ABS, O2 sensors and I believed Traction control. Does the Z06 for this year have a built in code reader or does have the OBD II port to plug in a reader. I have not seen the car yet. Thank you.

Tons of threads on this topic.. Do a search on how to delete codes, have her start there, Having someone check the grounds would be another great place to start. You can also unplug both BCM's located inside the accordions in both doors for 5 min, then plug em back in and re install. My 01 did the same thing 8 yrs ago when I purchased.
Bill Curlee is the SME!!!! Do a search..... Good luck.

The car has a port for OBDII on the driver's side under the dash. You can also read the codes without a code reader. Search for how to read codes. Read all the codes, then delete them all. Then take the car for a nice long drive and read the codes before turning the engine off. Make sure to record the code numbers and whether they are H (old) or C (current) or both. Report all the codes on the forum. Then you will know what needs to be addressed.

The 2001 Z06 was the only year to have quad cats. You don't need to replace the upper "pup" cats as they were only there to pass CA emissions. She should be able to have welded in a pair of high flow lower cats and both pass inspection and not throw codes.

Where are you located in md? If your close to the frederick area I can point you to a good shop if she needs any work done. Also the codes are easy to bring up and erase. Like mentioned above do a search. But if I can remember correctly you hold the options button while.pressing the trip button 4× should come up on display Manuel diagnostics.then it should give a read out of codes. After that hit reset. Then push e/m and you should be done. Cars not in front of me so I might be button off. Congrats on the new car
