Because he wants to. It's his car, he can do what he wants to it.
I'll go out on a limb here and start a lively discussion and hopefully not a war.
Any difference in what he wants to do for his bling and the slotted/drilled rotors, wide body fenders, racing stripes, blacked out lights, painted engine bays, under hood paintings/murals, custom this or that anybody else wants to do to their car? Do we have a fashion police here? Why is one person's mods any better or worse than another's? To each his own, like it or not, voice an opinion, but don't crap on somebody for doing what they want to their own car. Everyone has a different perception of beauty and that's what makes the world go 'round. I'd like to see that car in person before voicing a final opinion, it might actually look cool, but I wonder how much shine there is to that in the sun and what kind of hazard it is to another driver. DeLoreans were all shiny stainless steel but nowhere near that shiny. We all have different opinions and can reach a common consensus, but, to each his own, it's your car, do what you will. At least this mod is easily reversible if he decides to change it back.
