Now to your point. The numbers I gave were 18-24k, so I'm not sure why you're picking the number 20. Just a quick autotrader search finds about half a dozen Z06s under 15k miles sitting on dealer lots with a list price of around 28-29k (one of them is yellow, but not over red). Like I said earlier, when is the last time you paid list price for a car? I bet you could easily get any of them for about 25k just by asking and with some haggling, you could get them under 25k. Most used car dealers are not interested in inventory sitting, especially a sports car in December. You've already had two people provide real world examples of Z06s going for under 25.
You must have missed that the ones mentioned weren't 04's, too. And your original 18-24K is already up to just under 25K which is what the guys were saying when I said they were about right.
I don't feel like arguing with you any more, just post up one like what he is looking for and prove me wrong.

(not asking price)
Here's one with less than 3K miles, but with black int. You could always do the interior the way you want it.

whatever it takes to get one

you're really at the sellers mercy with such specific requirements. very few are available when you get mileage that low, a specific color and the last year

anything under 30 would be all i could say

i don't think price will be your biggest problem, i think finding that car in a state with good weather will be.

ideally you just wait a year or two for one to come up then barter. what you want, thankfully isn't popular so you should be able to work some kind of deal if you watch and are patient

you ever look at production numbers? this is a car that i'm fairly certain wasn't produced in large numbers color wise

Like looking for a needle in a haystack. The only MY/mod red out there FS is an 03 at a NC dealer. 26K miles @ 30 asking.

I've checked autotrader, cars.com and usedvettesfs nationwide w/zero result.

MY/blk on the other hand is not that difficult in comparison, although the overall quantity is limited to 629.

So as always, I may have to make some compromise. You can't always get what you want. I'm not going to make this an emotional buy. But come spring, I hope to be in a suitable Z. I had a 03 TRZ before. Over 5K in mods. Sold it for 27. That's why I posted the ad wording from back in 2007, just to show what a typical Z went for back then, and how little they have changed. That was just prior to the Great Recession on that 13K Z.

I'm in agreement with the majority. 25 seems to be the sweet spot final price. Anyone that bought one of these 04's as the 05's were coming out got one heck of a deal I know that. As I did when I got my brand new '12 Coupe for 36 w/MSRP 52.6 @ Les Stanford.

The only non-dealer selling a MY/blk 04Z wants 33 in TX. It has 4.3K Sometimes these low mileage cars suffer from infant mortality after you drive em. Case in point is the plastic bung (connector) to the fuel tank in the crossover. GM is not going to help out on that anymore unless NHTSA issues a recall. And the yellow valve springs although 04 is not as bad as 03 & 02 issues with that. Heck, I count 24 issues but that comes w/the territory on C5's. The majority are not going to be an issue car. Except for the ones with orig tires. Those 10-yr old round rocks are a risk for a blow-out.

The link 65GG cited has the BSM so that's out.
just kidding (don't they all just about?)

Thanks everyone. 25 is it.

Found my MY 04Z in Montana back in 2011, had 17k on it, dead stock with original clear bra on everything. Asking $25.5, got it for $24.5. Black interior, love Mod Red in every color except MY. Doing mine with some yellow stitching in places over time. 40K now and know I could sell it close to what I paid for it, but I'm keeping it for a very long time....

I know you want an 04, but the color combination you are looking for is in NC but it's an 01. It has under 1K on the clock, Incredible. They want $38K for it.
EDIT, check out autotrader again. There's an 04, Yellow ext. blk&red interior, 34K on the clock, $23.5 asking. Worth it for you to look at on line. In NC. Wait a minute, the tranny has been changed to automatic! Sorry.

Ouch on the 04 automatic change-out. He will like the C7Z w/auto option. No need to change trans on it.

1K on the 01 is incredible but 13/15K or a little more mileage is better for me. An 04 TRZ sold here by a member for 30 a couple yrs ago. It had 1K too.

That 01 for 38K is incredible too. I paid that for my brand new 2012 Coupe. (38781 tax included out the door).

Any thoughts on purchase amt for that Sarasota Craigslist link ?

Anyone?

He's got a clean 50K triple white 35th Anniv FS as well. Surprised it's still FS. Especially around Sarasota.

What do think price wise on the MY?

7 hrs, 412 miles by car. FL is a big state with over 2K miles of coastline.
Yeah 22 would be perfect. That would leave me 1.5K for mandatory tax. Which is was my net from my M-B sale a few days ago. That 32K mileage may be better for me too. They need to be exercised. I can always throw a red carpet in there.

Don't think he will drop to 22 from 26.5 But maybe.

He had the 35th FS at 20K back in Aug 2009. Now at 12.5 OBO That was 3K ago, in mileage years.

Lakeland FL (between Orlando & Tampa) has a big NCRS event in Jan. That's plan C.

Not much comparison between the white 88 and a C5 Z06. I think if you could get the 03 out the door with tax and all for 25, you've done very well.

412 miles is easily do-able though, when i bought my c5z it was a little over 300 miles each way. that was a long one day drive. a cheap hotel for the night could make yours easy. also agree with 25 total with tax and title would be a good number to shoot for

black interior will be a LOT easier to resell when you want to get off it too. with the MY/MOD combo i could see you paying a lot, then having a hell of a time trying to get good money when you want to sell it

back when i was c5z shopping there was just such a car local. 02, 30k miles MY/MOD guy had it up for 23kobo for 6 months and eventually i saw it at a local dealer meaning he probably took trade for it. i would imagine trade was 19-20k

i also watched a 75k mile 02 MY on black sell for 18k quickly, very quickly actually, like a day after it was posted.

Sorry about that. Wife had language on Korean and didn't change it back.

What I was saying is you need to become my CF buddy for all the help you're giving me.

Looks like a good comp for the other one in Sarasota. It could possibly be the same car with a few K diff in mileage. Maybe private party is doing a co-sign agreement on it. If not, then 23.5 could sure be bargained down to 23 or maybe 22.5

Will have to explore this one a little more. thnx
