Same mileage my car had when I did mine in late spring. Glad I did, needed the bushings replaced and the shifter was loose as heck. Pretty easy with the how to stuff on the site.

Also look up "Froggy corvette shifter alignment" on youtube. It shows you how to remove console, shifter adjustment procedure, etc.
I have had the console out but is it at all possible to do with just removing boot? Where did u get bushings should i need them. Bushigs are n lower box, correct. How much play should there b before replacing? Thanks
Don't have to remove the boot, just raise it to the shifter ****(do not have to remove shifter ****). It will fall down in your way many times, pain in the rear, but I took tie-wraps and figured out a way to tie it to the steering to keep it up out of the way. Unless the bushings are worn out, i wouldn't replace them but I figure at 49k, their probably dried up and cracked like mine were. Perform the alignment procedure, torque back down to recommended numbers and your done. The video really helped me along with additional info i found on the forum. I got the red urethane bushings that you can find the source by searching the forum or googling. If I can find my source I'll forward to you.

I got the polyurethane bushing set from Corvette Central, IIRC.....
when I have adjusted several C5 shifter's I use the flash light method and line up the rear adjustment bolt...a proper aligned shifter in a C5 will while not in gear should be able to slap if you will left or right and it should pop back to neutral position..
