[Z06] 2004 z06 navigation
I want to put a double-din navigation unit in my 2004 Z06. I live in Bethlehem, PA. Anyone know any reasonably local people who could modify the bezel for me?
I know there is a guy in Wisconsin (Dennis from Double D Mods) who does this regularly, but I would like someone closer who can do the same work.
Thanks

I did have my double din nav unit installed locally and it works and looks great.

Hi Dennis
Some questions:
1. I am in PA, so I would essentially be removing my bezel and driving the car around without it until I receive it back from you. (This Z06 is my only car - a daily driver.) Would I be sending the bezel out to you in a box?
2. Is the double din mod that you perform done to a standard opening for double din? In other words, once I get it back, could I then have local electronics shops install the NAV unit of my choice? I ask because I am not sure which head unit I would buy and I don't want to limit my choices based upon a permanent bezel mod done by you in Wisconsin.
3. I went to your site this morning - it looks like a stock C5 bezel mod is $199. Is that accurate? If I recall, removing the ask tray was an additional $45. Do you also remove the cup holder (which on the C5 doesn't hold any cups I have ever seen and is pretty useless)?
4. Does the bezel come out the same color/texture as it was from stock? I have not touched it, so the finish on it now is what was on it when I bought the car and it is 100% stock.
5. If I were to send you my bezel next week, approximately when would I get it back?
Thank you,
DILLI1

Let me take a shot at a few of these for you.
Yes any shop that deals with installs could do it for you after the modification.
But like many on here have done, call Dennis. From everything I have seen and the feedback he has on here is the reason I went to him for my set up. He was great to deal with and you will most likely find what you want at a very fair price. Plus if you buy your setup from him and go with the standard bezel modification it will be included.
Any double din unit will work.
The bezel can be made in the same color texture as stock
Unless you do like I did and purchase another bezel and sale your current one when your modified one comes back you will be about 5 -6 weeks out according to Dennis last Friday as it is the holiday season.
He received mine Nov. 18th(bezel) ordered my set up on the 12th and looking to hopefully see mine by the months end

So you mailed your bezel to Dennis, but bought your head unit local?
Did you eliminate the ash tray and/or cup holder?
Did all through Dennis. He had a great deal on a Clarion unit and I got a back up camera from him also. I bought another bezel so I could send it ahead of time to get closer up in line so to say. Plus I didn't want to drive around for 5/6 weeks "nakid" lol. I stayed with the ash tray even though I just use it a mini storage area. As soon as I get it installed I will offer up my current bezel up for sale here and/or Ebay.

yes if you want the option of sending your bezel...I would assume yes you would want it in a box

Any traditional radio will fit yes...Pioneer Kenwood Jensen Sony Ect
We also have all the radio as well as a complete package

We can remove the cup holder if you like. We have done this in the past for an additional fee. I would leave it in for looks myself alone

we have been running 4-5 weeks out but we also have two holidats coming up as well. We have currently 114 bezels sitting waiting for build and can do about 30 a week on a normal week. Replacement bezel orders are running about 9 weeks at this time

OK - thanks for the response.
I am concerned about the time frame. If I were to send my bezel today, it would probably just sit around waiting to be worked on after the others that arrived before mine. How would it be if I paid ahead of time and then sent you my bezel when it gets closer to the time when someone would actually work on it. I don't know that I want to drive around without the bezel for 9 weeks. I use this car every day. Your thoughts?

When they arrive we label and date them to put in the mix for build. From now till April we will be always 4-5 weeks out on orders and possibly worse once ta season gets here.
We have weeks where we can get more bezels done than others as it depends on how many for what car we have going on at the time.
Your not going to be 9 weeks unless you want leather or hydro for finish
Current time frame is 4-5 weeks from when re receive them till they are done..
I am sorry about the times but we are extremely busy this time of year on bezels with everyone sending us bezels to make with winter months and not driving the cars
I just spend all day in the shop today painting 17 Viper bezels for Monday ship
