There are several tests with the 7spd z06 running 11.5@126 if you look at the fast list C5 Z06's with nothing but CAI's and drag radials are running the same 11.5....
The Ls6 was one of the best motors ever built. GM is still trying to duplicate the LS6. They did one better it with the ls7. But now it looks like there at a dead end with the lt1 and4. Hence thats why they had to put a blower on the lt4. For all you nasayers who think this post was a joke bla bla bla. Maybe you need to read the **** up. Motor trend clocked the 02z at 11.9 at 119. They clocked the c7 zo6 at 11.5 at 125 or 126 M7. So a c5z with a ECS blower will walk a c7 z06s dog boys and girls. In a straight line indeed.

Motor Trend did not run 11s and they did not run even close to 119. Yes, this thread is a joke. Mod up a fox body for highway pulls for a lot less money
Hey dammit, I can pull one in a straight line hahaha. N/A playa playa... Nah but for real, I do look forward to running one in spring/summer or whenever though...
Imo every corvette generation is its own individual car and shouldnt be compared to the next. 5th gen guys have their own following, 6th gen, 7th gen ect.... Some guys would rather own a C5Z and like the looks better then a C6 or C7, Some guys may rather own a C6Z, or a C7Z ect. Its all what you want. And any car can be fast.... Its all based on how deep them pockets go. Each generation is going to strive to be faster then the next with the exception of the flagship models vs base in most cases. Sometimes the previous flagship may be faster then the new model. Which it seems to be the way its looking.
GM looked at it like this, Its cheaper and easier to get power out of a smaller cube Supercharged motor then building a big cube motor. The LS6 was and still is one of the best engines ever created, GM took that technology and created a larger displacement version which we all know as the LS7 427. Hands down the best N/A motor GM has ever produced and is a mother ****er to beat. They are just high reving tq monsters. I love boosted motors and I could have easily boosted my car for cheaper then what I got now but for me.... I give more respect to a big power N/A motor all day long, Thats why I have one stuffed in my C5Z ... Just my .02, Im proud to own my C5Z, and would be just as proud if I had a C6Z or C7Z... I have no loyalty to a generation, I just love corvettes and love my C5Z...

Your right it wasnt motor trend. I believe it was vette magazine or car and driver. But still your average c5z will be around 12.4 116 Stock. Thats not the point. The point Is All you have to do is slap a ECS s/c kit on a c5z and walla you can beat an c7 zo6 in a straight line. Please dont give me the fbody b.s or civic b.s.

If the thread is such a joke why even comment?
The 11.9 run was done by Evan Smith @ Englishtown in mine shaft air for GM High Tech Performance Magazine. Evan Smith is a top level driver who was running in optimum conditions, not an average Joe making his first pass in a brand new car. No major magazine has come close to the 11s @ 119 in a stock C5 Z06. Most are mid 12s at around 114. Personally, I've gone quicker and faster in my stocker (see sig).
Yes, this thread is a total joke. The C7 Z06 is not all about 1/4 mile times or highway rolls. It is a complete package. Going fast in an FBody, Mustang, or Civic is not B.S. You seem to be very concerned with straight line performance, start with a Fox body, it will be a lot cheaper and then you can join a Mustang forum and brag about how you beat a faster and newer car with some mods in your old car.
This same silly debate starts up every time a new Generation is introduced.
Well, to be fair, stone stock c5z's have gone as fast as 11.8 and some have seen close to 120 traps. Still, agreed, typical stock cars with typical drivers will go low to mid 12's at around 115. For a car that you can now get for $15k to $20k, that ain't bad.

Back in 2002 when my car was new there were constant threads from people with LT1 C4s, LS1 C5s, Mustangs, and F-Bodies saying the same thing you are saying now. "With mods my old car will beat your new car".
Ok, have at it if that floats your boat, but you are still driving an old, less desirable, and inferior package. it was a joke back then and it is still a joke today. Post your thread in the C7 Z06 section of this forum and see what the people who have owned both cars say.
Ok you win. But you can still put a 5k supercharger on an ls6 and it will smoke an lt4. What other motor can you do that with. Ls3 maybe. But not an ls1
I have no doubt in my mind that my C5z would eat it in every area. That being said, it sure would be nice to get into that new Z that is docile that you could drive comfortably anywhere. It certainly is impressive what GM has done with the new car. I'll never get rid of mine, but I have pushed it to the point that it no longer can be a daily driver.

You are pretty far fetched on that C4 one though hahaha. The LSX platform had already been around for 6 years by that point... hahaha
