Is 70hp to the engine worth spending over two thousand? Full exhaust and CAI? Mostly drive the car on the highway. Has forged motor and machine work on the heads. TIA

Reason: I believe it was Mr Bill's last post
I also ask if it will make a dramatic difference? I understand about it being my mula. Are the hp gains to the motor something that i would be at "awh" with? Thanks again

Living in Kalifornia you are very limited to what you can get away with, Save some more money and get a SC.
As always your input is very welcome. It did cross my mind to do the SC install before i make this decision. I already committed and did a cam upgrade. I could wait a couple of months to save up for the SC. Just needed to understand if this will be needed in the future.
Being in California does limit you. I have a SC on my car (99 coupe) and otherwise stock (no headers. I'm in Kali too) dyno 510 atw. Drive it right through a smog station. A&A supercharger on my car. All CARB legal. Pretty much the only way to go in this state with their crazy emissions BS. Would like to do headers but not worth the hassle. Definitely makes the car more fun to drive. And stock feel driving around town when you are not on it. Another BIG win to me. Would hate to drive a big cam car day to day in traffic.
You can do a C6 ZR1/Z06 exhaust for not too much money. The used manifolds and X-pipe usually sell on the forum for less than $500, and they work almost as well as long tube headers. Horsepower is close and torque is a little below what headers will give you. Though not technically legal, they are OEM parts, so the smog techs don't fail them. There are write ups by RedZMonte and MadMatt if you search for them.
Thanks Evil-Twin. I have a question. Does it matter that i have a ls2 on my z? Does the size or type on the headers matter? As suppose to 1 3/4" 1 7/8"? Also, can the x pipe be welded to the existing piping on the car? If so. Am i able to purchase the headers and the x pipe and just have them installed? TIA

How hard of a swap/conversion is the c6 zr1 z06 to a c5? Anyone know realistically how much horsepower id gain doing this on a 97 c5 .. my exhaust is stock with flowmaster force II axel back

Just SuperCharge it !!!
Call A&A, it's smog legal, and lots of power sitting there ready anytime you want it.
As RedRider said, driving normal is easy. Nail it, and it's awesome.

II agree with going the supercharger route. With an intake and full exhaust, I doubt you'll get 70 hp out of that. Save your money and get much more with a S/C and be smog legal in your state.

I haven't done it myself yet, but the conversion is fairly easy, from what I've read. You need to weld on air fittings to both manifolds, grind the flanges a little for clearance, and neck the X-pipe down from 3" to 2.5" to fit the axle back exhaust. Here's a thread from RedZMonte that details the swap.

I agree with everyone above, do the supercharger... I did longtubes, vararam, and a smallish cam and made 420rwhp in my z and even then it never felt that fast to me... after installing a blower it woke the car the F*** up... being in california going with a&a is a no brainer
