Default Any reason not to?

thinking hard about the plunge....

any reason NOT to buy a ZO6 as a daily driver.
I do have another vehicle to use when the roads get really nasty.

quick , honest opionions needed.

would I be better off with a regular coupe?.. if so , why?

I dont intend to take the ZO6 to the track .......maybe once or twice.

Thanks
Kevin

The Z06 is a great daily driver. If you want performance, get the Z06. If you don't like the FRC, or just have to have twilight sentinel or a telescoping steering wheel, get a coupe. But get the Z06.

thanks for the quick reply Jerry...

so the ZO6 doesnt have telescoping steering?.....I didnt know that...I just assumed it did.

I do like that the coupes have a removable roof...but I like the look and performance of the ZO6 better.

anyone else...?....please?

:D

Performance V. couple exta creature comforts. I had a 01 vert and I like my Z better. Even though my vert had more options, I like the performance and feel of my Z. That was one of my main reasons for trading in my vert. Anyway it is really what you want. If the performance is what you like then go for the Z06. If you can not live without a power antenna or telescoping wheel then go for the coupe. Me personally I like my Z and would not go back.

Shifting in heavy traffic becomes a pain at times. Other then that I love the car.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. If you looking at an 01 Z06 remeber the HP 385 v the coupe at 350. 2002 Z HP is 405 v. coupe at 350. Bigger difference in the HP between the two in 2002. 2003 same as 2002. Just some extra info to consider. :D

If your route requires a lot of driving over certain kinds concrete road surfaces, the noise of the Goodyear SC's can be pretty obnoxious. Otherwise, I can't think of any negatives.

Take the plunge - you'll love it!

this is all great info....keep it comin....:)
I just learned from my insurance company that it is actually cheaper to buy the ZO6 than the coupe...I guess there are more coupes on the road, thus more accidents....go figure... one more reason to buy the ZO6....

I would definately be doing the 2002...not 2001.....for horsepower reasons and
for the fact that it would be new and right off the lot ....

question -
has GM found a fix for the exhaust ringing/rattle sound at idle that Ive heard about.?

any other annoyances other than the possible road noise mentioned previously?

I have an 81 corvette now, so Im used to some rattling and noise...ha

Forgot this one, NO RUN-FLATS on the Z06 along with no pressure readings from within the car. Minor issue.

I sold a 96 Viper RT/10 and bought the Z06 to use as a daily driver. The Z06 has a great cargo capacity (actually could fit a 24" bike with front wheel detached), and I average 22 mpg city/highway 29 mpg highway. I drove my previous 98 coupe year round unless the snow was too deep for the air dam and it was great. Only neg is the hydroplane problems with the stock Goodyears. Get the Z06.

My 2001 Z06 is a daily driver, 40,000+ miles, and I love it. As the others have mentioned, if you want performance and are willing to sacrifice some of the luxury options that the Coupe and Convertible have, then get the Z06.

Between a C5 coupe and a Z06 get the Z06. It's no contest.

I didn't plan on my Z becoming my daily driver... but once you drive it, you don't want to park it. I actually had to force myself to drive my 72 four times to work last week    Actually, my 72 El Camino has been my daily driver for the last two years, and it hasn't even been driven since May 1 when I got my Z ... go figure! Go buy and enjoy.

Think about it like this. A C5 is really cool to see in traffic. Just think what the C5 guy thinks when you pull up next to him in the ZO6.
Cheers!

If you are considering the performance v. creature comfort issue you might want to go ahead to corvette.com and look at all the preferred eqip groups and see what you can and can't get. then get the Z anyway.

hi kevin,
ive had 2 coupes, a '97 and a '00, and they were both excellent daily drivers. However Im a performance guru so my next Vette is going to be a ZO6, which is my answer: go for the ZO6, telescopic steering and the targa top is nice, but 405hp 400ft/tq is just no contest for me  :D

Kevin,
I have been having the same debate with my wife and myself. We did narraow it down to a FRC or ZO6. My choice is simple Z06. See my sig. Horsepower nut here. ..I am sure the wife will keep the foot off the floor when she drives the car.

Go for the Z06..... :smash:
