Day 1

I have accumulated some stereo equipment over the last year that came out of my old truck and a few things I went ahead and picked up, I figured it was time to go ahead and give it a go.
Now I will be the first to say that since finishing my driveline upgrade the stereo was the last thing on my mind, after all a great sounding Corvette is really music to the ears IMHO, but I had most of this stuff laying around so I broke down today and began to dismantle the interior.
I plan to go ahead and sound deaden the key areas where the speakers will be and then insulate the areas that remain to help with summer time heat and maybe lower the road noise a little.
My upgrade will consist of a Kenwood DNX 6960 double din nav unit from my old truck with Kenwood cameras, Polk audio components up front with coaxle rears, a Rockford Fosgate 12 for the sub and 2 amps they are a 4 channel Rockford 500 single and 300-4 channel, not the most expensive but for my needs sufficient.
I am in the over 50 category now so loud is not on my menu these days and trying to keep everything within budget was more important.
Day one got everything about 85% stripped and the amps mounted in the amp rack, that by the way was a really great deal from Dennis (Double D) thanks Dennis
I've got 10 to 12 days to finish everything including a fluid change and interior and exterior detail so I will update my post as she progresses.
I am really looking forward to hearing how she will sound, I have been running the stock speakers with just the 12 and amp and it made a HUGE improvement over stock so I am hoping this is the icing on the cake.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

starting to put a few carpet pieces back in, Tomorrow the amp rack will go in, I still have a little work to do on both the driver and passenger side but not a lot, I have already wired the head unit harness up,
Its going start coming together, I even picked up some regular insulation for the hard to cover areas, I think its going to be alright

I've got a rear carpeted mat that I bought with My front mats that's going to hide the sub wiring Not gonna have anything left exposed

What size did you put in the back? 10"?

What size did you put in the back? 10"?
If you decide to just upgrade your stock set up without the sub its definitely going to make your other speakers work harder but depending on the kind of music you listen to u may be fine.
If you lived close to someone with another c5 it would be nice to take a listen to help you decide on what you may want do.
Good luck

I know not everyone is going to agree with where I installed the tweeter but it seemed like the best place to put em, Just a few more days

first dry run this morning to test that everything would power up and sound would come out of the places it was supposed to and everything worked like its supposed to, man I through some steely dan in to check her out and all I can say is WOW, it sounds amazing and it's not even dialed in yet.Now I got to begin the head unit install.

Keep on keeping us posted, starting to shape up to a loud system.
